Blencatha Lodge - lovely experience

Very good, lovely Lodge, comfortable, we stayed in Blencatha as had our dog. Very happy with facilities, however - the main bed really does need replacing, its really comfortable but its not sturdy.
The only other gripe, I'd invest in making the hot tub area look a little more astethically pleasing, some new stone and nice lighting and it will be beautiful.
The site lovely and quiet, really recommend taking a good food shop as you're away from a main supermarket. The honestly box is cute.
Coniston Lake is stunning, the Copper Mines walk is an absolute must.
If you want to get away from it all, this is the place to go.
Just seen the mouse review below imagine wildlife in nature and wanting a refund. Don't let this put you off.

Beware out of date reviews of Acorn lodge!

Booked Acorn lodge a while ago and obviously must have looked at some old reviews. This is no longer in the quiet part of the park and there is a new lodge almost ready for opening which is exceptionally close and overlooks the hot tub. This wasn’t an issue for us at all but it is disappointing that the owners are investing in new lodges before looking after those that they already have bookings for. The lodge is really tired, garden furniture is filthy, fire pit and benches look to be at least 20 years old and in need of a good jet wash at least. The whole outdoor area just needs some love and attention. The inside of the lodge is fine, tired but also in need of a deep clean. Skirting boards, edges of rooms, radiators, kitchen cupboards and bathroom pedestals all visibly dirty, there were no bin bags in the bins on arrival (only 2 supplied for a weeks stay) and the bin lid was also filthy. Also no cleaning equipment to help keep it clean or give it a wipe over. Little things like this really impact on the sense of the place on arrival and during the stay. There are no doormats which is ridiculous in the middle of nowhere so floors are instantly muddy/wet from boots and hot tub use. There are no coat/bag hooks, no shelves/anywhere for toothbrushes and the drawers on both wardrobes are almost broken. Kitchen equipment all very old, drawers dirty and lacking in useful equipment (no potato peeler and no decent frying pan and knifes are so blunt they are useless) Also a washing machine which is great, but no airer to dry your washing! Location of the lodge is great - we managed to get around lots of the Lake District and had a wonderful holiday but it just didn’t feel nice coming home to the lodge which was a shame given we paid a lot during the height of summer. We’ve used around 15 hoseasons lodges over the years but this was the worst. Hopefully if you book one of the newer lodges you won’t have any of these issues. It is a shame as location is great!

Beautiful location but could be better.

On the face of it, this lodge should have been fantastic.
Unfortunately, there are a few design decisions that have could have made a massive difference.
The decking is out of the sun for the major part of the day, yet, there was plenty of space to put a useable deck on the sunny side of the lodge.
The parking is at the bottom of a steep, badly maintained set of steps, yet there is clearly enough room adjacent to the lodge, blocked off by the neighbouring lodges at present, where we could have brought our car right up to the same level. This is clearly not the lodge owners fault as such, but could certainly have been arranged better by the overall company Hoseasons.
The kitchen design is so wasteful, with hardly any room to store your provisions. Just needs a pantry unit, to make the difference.
With a bathroom this size, who chooses such a stupidly small basin?
General maintenance issues.
Main entrance sliding door it almost breaks your fingers trying to lock it.
Wrong shaped seat pads for the outside chairs.
Draw cords missing on bedroom blinds.
Head rest missing on hot tub.
Despite this being a 4 person lodge, the cutlery is grossly insufficient.
These minor maintenance points, could have, and should have been attended to without guests having to write reviews, and would make a massive difference in my general perception of the lodge.
None of these things have spoiled our overall enjoyment, but just a little effort could have made such an improvement.
I don’t want to be unfair, as this is beautifully located in a lovely quiet part of the lakes, with fantastic views over Coniston, with just a short walk up the hill behind the site, or a short walk down to the lake shore.
As it is, I would still recommend a peaceful stay at this lodge, but bring a few of your own teaspoons.

Scarfell lodge

Overall, the lodge was clean, but there were several areas that could be improved.
Firstly, there was a rodent deterrent inside the lodge which emitted a loud beep every seven seconds. It was noticeable throughout our stay and something you would need to get used to if staying here.
The sofa was very low to the ground and had a few holes, which appeared to have been caused by pets over time. There were also some cosmetic issues, such as chipped blinds and marks on the worktop. These didn’t affect our stay but did make the lodge feel a little worn.
The bed wasn’t particularly comfortable and could do with being replaced.
As expected, we brought our own food and there was a small welcome pack provided, which was appreciated. However, it could have been more comprehensive. A few extra essentials, such as a small bottle of olive oil for cooking and additional cleaning products, would have made the stay much more convenient, especially given that the lodge is around 20 minutes from the nearest shop.
During our stay there was a power cut, which was obviously outside the holiday park’s control. However, it would have been appreciated if the lodge owners had sent a quick text to let guests know, especially as they have our contact details. We returned from Windermere to find the lodge without power, with no prior warning.
On a positive note, the hot tub was excellent and was one of the highlights of our stay. My partner and I really enjoyed using it.
Overall, we had a lovely time, but that was mainly due to the beauty of the Lake District rather than the lodge itself. With a few improvements and a little more attention to guest comfort, the experience could be much better.

MOUSE IN KITCHEN!!

Mouse in kitchen. Response from owner absolutely shocking. No apology at all until we followed up. Found droppings around lodge post incident. Mouse came in through hole in the floor. Owner did not care and suggested initially to just “put a chair over the hole” … eventually got them to bring tape over so we could tape up the hole. Real shame because site has real potential and until this point we loved our stay. No refund given and pathetic 10% off offer given as a gesture but again only once we asked. DO NOT STAY HERE!

Posizione ottima
