Amazing hotel, perfect location, comfy beds, lovely decor, would stay here again. We did two nights but wish we could of stayed longer

It would have been 5 stars but our toilet only flushed now and again and we both agree that we were served probably the worst “eggs royale ever, eggs were hard , very little salmon and way too much sauce that was cold and tasted like it came straight a Lidl carton..

Not recommended for business travelers
I stayed here for the first time for three nights on business in a deluxe corner room. I stay in hotels (mainly IHG) for about 250 nights a year. The pros for this one are:
1. My room was super clean, the bed was great and linens perfect.
2. The A/C was fantastic and mineral water very welcome.
3. I liked the canal side location and the sound proofing is great (I couldn’t hear the trains).
The cons are:
1. The WiFi is dreadful and inadequate for business travelers. I had several disrupted MS Teams meetings and eventually resorted to Bluetoothing with my mobile.
2. The step up shower was a nightmare. It’s a huge step up and then the shower tray is incredibly slippery with no grab handles. It’s really a health and safety hazard. Unlike most other hotels, there’s no non slip bathmat provided. All very surprising given the staggering number of people each year who are hospitalized due to shower falls in UK:
3. There’s no heated towel rail making it impossible to do the ‘go green’ plan (unless one likes soggy, smelly, towels!). The bathroom door was so heavy and badly fitted that it won’t stay open unless propped open with a suitcase
4. The instant coffee is absolutely foul!
5. The restaurant has inadequate basic meals for people on business (like simple sandwiches) at lunchtime. The room service menu actually did offer a sandwich but I was then told the menu was incorrect.
6. The restaurant is extremely variable in terms of food quality, ambience and service
I would struggle to recommend this hotel and wouldn’t choose to stay again.

Great hotel with perfect location next to train station and 2min walk to pubs restaurants and shops

Short stay.
Recently stayed for 2 day's at this hotel. Hotel is lovely. Great location. The room was absolutely spotless and a lovely view over the cannel. Greeted at reception with a bag of cookies which my husband loved. The restaurant in the evening was good and the staff was amazing. Bonus to this hotel is it has a roof top terrace with a bar which do amazing cocktails also has a dj on Saturday evening. Definitely would stay here again.
