Very warm, friendly and helpful staff

I am writing this review on behalf of my friend Anthony who recently stayed at the Bingham on a short break. The staff were all super friendly and helpful and took great care going out of their way to make Anthony feel welcome and accommodated and to make his stay comfortable.
Anthony had chosen to room book different room types during his visit as the River View was not available throughout the stay and the staff assisted him and made the room moves very easy.
It was during the recent heatwave and thanks to Zindene worked to make sure the the air conditioning units blasted cold air as per Anthony’s request.
Based on the teams warmth and welcome I would certainly recommend the Bingham as a charming place to stay as well as the lovely river views. A shout out and thanks to Sufian, Paola, Ana, Jasmin, Julia, Jeronimo, James for their warmth throughout Antony’s stay and also big thanks for the support to successfully retrieve his wallet which had been left in the taxi on arrival at the hotel!
If anyone has accessible or special requirements do liaise with the Bingham prior to booking as the age and layout of the building which is very much part of the charm could mean it is not suitable for some guests with mobility issues or guests who are not able to use the stairs.

Stone Age TV

Bingham Riverhouse is suitable for a backpacker stay. There is little customer service and the biggest disappointment was the television from the 1990s that does not allow you to play Netflix etc. I found it particularly disturbing the staff lied and pretended they had a MAC cable to allow access from computer to TV . The staff on two shifts lied and pretended to be able to help. This is fine for a backpacker stay. Beyond that seek another hotel with customer service and televisions from the modern era.

Style over substance - an underwhelming experience in superb surroundings.

This was certainly not all bad. The river views and decor were superb. Some of the staff were very good. We really appreciated the extra touch of a free dessert and congratulatory plate for our daughter. However, we were disappointed. The menu was not inspiring - certainly poor compared to the spring menu - and did not have a good selection of gluten free options. Considering the menu is so limited, it's particularly disappointing to run out of one of the two meat dishes. In a panic, having previously placed an order for pork, we chose the gnocchi - the most underwhelming dish any of us have ever had the misfortune to order! Raw tomatoes, a lump of burrata and plain boiled gnocchi DO NOT make a meal but the sort of supper I might throw together in a hurry. It wasn't exactly bad - the flavours were good - but everything was cold and there was no sauce. The steak we ordered was OK - but nothing special at all. The fish was OK as well, but very plain.
We were so looking forward to it, having travelled quite a distance - but the whole thing was underwhelming. The waitress knocked off my husband's jacket three times without apologising or picking it up and when she brought out the potatoes ( which we'd cancelled earlier due to the unavailability of the meat) she looked baffled as to why we didn't want them. As I said, some of the staff were good.
This is not a cheap restaurant and we felt that it was very much style over substance. Gluten free options should certainly be improved as well. It's obviously a popular restaurant but it did not impress at all for our special occasion.
PS. It was totally impossible to park anywhere remotely close.

A Beautiful Wedding

The Bingham Riverhouse hosted our wedding reception. The day was everything we imagined and more. It was perfect. The staff were professional and attentive and went above and beyond. We were all well looked after and everyone had an amazing time.
