Very comfortable hotel with lovely food and friendly, helpful staff. Beautiful and scenic location close to the Ring of Gullion.

A Beautiful Venue but Overpriced

Food was nice and overall the service was good. I felt wine prices were excessive at £14.50 for a large glass of Cabernet Sauvignon.

Good..more attention to detail would make it great!

Hotel has a great building and the location is amazing, it is a very tranquil setting and lucky to be in an area of such outstanding beauty. The rooms are lovely, they are very warm and we couldn't see away to adjust the temperature as the thermostat seemed to be locked. There is a small desktop fan and we had a full length sliding window (with half balcony)...this could be an issue with small children. No coat hooks which is a small thing. Robes and slippers provided for thermal suite use. Note no locker is provided, instead hooks in the thermal suite are provided, but a guest did take my partners robe i am sure by mistake. Luckily nothing of value was in it. Breakfast buffet was not to my liking but there is a freshly cooked option available but we were not made aware of this until we seen other guests being served. Staff are friendly, some more than others, Aaron was the stand out staff member. Genuinely went above and beyond. We didn't eat there as we were initially told the bar was open for food but then a few minutes later, told it wasn't. We were offered the restaurant but upon checking the menu but see anything of interest. We went a few minutes drive now the road to the flagstaff restaurant and it was amazing! The staff and the food there was 5 star. Definitely worth the trip out.
Thermal suite is small and hot. Was worth a visit but you wouldn't base your trip around it. We didn't go for spa treatment.
Overall we enjoyed our stay on a Thursday evening. Would not want to pay full weekend rate or maybe go without breakfast/room only. Note the castle is separate building and we couldn't access it. We went for a quick look at the outside.

Poor dining experience

As regular guest at Killeavy Castle since 2020 we were very disappointed in our recent dining experience for a birthday celebration, I left balloons up prior to arrival for the table and was assured in good faith they would be put on the table, they weren’t. The service so very slow we were there for 3 hours waiting on courses, I would not recommend the pizzas, the most disappointing though was in my opinion what was an AI automated response to my detailed emailed about our experience, and no further correspondence, definitely not a 4* experience and not the place it was previously

Beautiful retreat

Such a lovely place, staff are amazing and food was delicious. Great value for 5 star quality. I would highly recommend to friends and family.
