All round lovely place!
Breakfasts were delightful, freshly made fruit salad with yoghurt and toppings to add as you chose; amazing local sausages and bacon cooked to perfection. All served in a very pretty dining room.
Our twin bedroom was thoughtfully laid out so beds are set well apart which meant my sister in law and I didn’t disturb each other during the night. Our beds were very comfortable.
Fridge on the landing stocked with pitchers of cold water and dinky bottles of fresh milk for tea or coffee were much appreciated.
Modern bathroom with fabulously hot water supply and good shower.
Very friendly pair of little dogs welcomed us home each evening.
We came to the area to show my sister in law around my childhood haunts and she loved dinner at The Earle Arms and morning coffee at The Tea Room, both in nearby Heydon - do book ahead as they can be very busy! Take the time to visit the church and walk on the park past the gorgeous Elizabethan Heydon Hall, it’s well worth the short stroll.
We will return to this lovely part of the country!

This Is A Little Gem!
Sankence Lodge is a very old former farmhouse and has only a few rooms. It is a Listed building so there are limitations on the infrastructure within. It is clean, neat, tidy and well appointed with all the facilities that you would expect to find. There is free parking and the place is located so that there is plenty to see and do within say a half hour or so drive.
I mentioned that the building is Listed and that perhaps is the reason that there was the one shortcoming that we found; there was no shower but a bath. It was a small surprise but also it wasn't a problem for us
I would be more than happy to stay here again and would be happy to recommend it

Spoiled our anniversary holiday
Our stay was spoiled by an intense smell of heating fuel from the bathroom around the toilet.We had to sleep with windows open, it was very unpleasant. Our host said they checked and there was no smell, but after the weekend a specialist spill company arrived and began digging up a trench from the diesel tank to the venting pillars in front of the property. We were not offered an alternative room or asked again about it. No compensation offered and made us look foolish, as if we didn’t know what we were talking about. These things happen but the host could have been honest about the situation instead of denying.
