It is a very nice and cosy hotel with kind and helpful staff. The rooms are small, but comfortable enough and offer good value for money.
The main downside is the location. It is more than a 30-minute walk from the city center, so it is not ideal if you plan to explore the city entirely on foot. However, there are plenty of buses to the center, with bus stops only a 3–5 minute walk from the hotel.
Overall, a pleasant stay and good value for money.

Great location, but no air-con is a dealbreaker

Exceptional staff, location, and quirky boutique charm—but ruined by no air-conWe recently paid £324 for a two-night stay at The Galaxie. The location on Banbury Road was perfect for our needs—we loved exploring the local restaurants and bars, and the 20-minute stroll into the Oxford city centre was very convenient. Architecturally, the hotel has a wonderfully quirky, bougie boutique style with so much potential, and the staff were all exceptional and an absolute credit to the owners.Unfortunately, our trip was ruined by the heat. There is no air conditioning, and our room reached a stifling 32 degrees, resulting in two nights of absolutely no sleep. We also paid an additional £12 per person for breakfast. It feels like the owners are letting down a property with such great character by not investing in basic modern necessities. At this price point, climate control is a must, and the building is starting to look a bit tired and needs a repaint in places to keep that boutique charm alive. Fantastic staff and vibe, but the lack of bedroom comfort makes it hard to give 5 stars. Would I stay again Yes but in winter!
P.s Parking at the hotel is another additional charge

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL!!!1

I had held off from wriitng a review of this dreadful place as I was waiting for the manager to contact me regarding a refund. This hotel is NOT worth its money. From moudly food and rotten to the core apples - to dirty and full of dust areas throughout. It is clearly run down and NOT like any of the pictures. We were taken to rooms that were dirty, ripped carpets and dirty bedsheets. We refused to stay after paying over £500 pounds on 2 single rooms. We are now entering legal action with them,

We had an amazing last minute stay at The Galaxie. Whilst there was a £15 charge for parking, was convenient, off the road at the back of this lovely presented and 'quirky' hotel.
Enjoyed a really warm and relaxed greeting on arrival and we were shown to our room during which the free pick your own sweet selection was pointed out to us.
Our standard double room which, whilst not large, was well decorated with nice furnishings.
Breakfast was amazing and very good value with an array of fresh fruit and yoghurts, fresh breads, fresh juices and, even though advertised as continental, also had English cooked breakfast options available. I forgot his name but the man managing the breakfast was amazing and chatty and really knowledgeable about Oxford.
A 45 minute walk, on a very hot day, to the centre of Oxford but a relatively short and straightforward bus ride back on a well resourced route.
Our overall experience clearly demonstrates the effort this private-owned hotel, managed by the grandchildren of the original owners, put into looking after its guests.

Please, please, please. Do not book this hotel. It was dirty, mouldy Apples with bugs crawling through it. Dirty smelly rooms - with filthy ripped carpets. We could not stay as it was unfold on their website and we are still trying to get our money back.
