Fantastic fish and chips

The nicest chips I’ve ever eaten…and I’ve ate a lot of chips! We turned up early Saturday evening and were accommodated. There were three of us and the food couldn’t be faulted across all our plates, and the ladies on the next table were also gushing about their orders. When top home cooked food is matched with friendly service, it’s a winner. Will be back +++

Awful stay

Was so disappointed with my stay here, whilst doing the coast to coast. I had been walking all day really looking forward to a hot shower. I checked in, noticed in the room they had plugged an electric heater in to warm it up abit. Then I notice there’s no hot water. Spoke to the bar staff who told me they had problems with the water. I was tired I let it go, the evening meal was nice. It was noisy at night luckily I had earplugs. (And i appreciate it’s a pub) breakfast the next morning, I went down only me having breakfast, he bought out some toast I had ate a couple of slices to then see mould on the other 2 bits. It put me right off. Personally this was the worst place I stayed on the coast to coast, it was the most exspensive but by far not worth the money. It really needs some tlc and a good clean.

Coast to Coast walk

Visited on my Coast to Coast wlak.
Overall the hotel was great.
Friendly helpful staff, great food and amenities.
Highly recommended.

More Heat Required

Enjoyed a fabulous meal nicely cooked and presentation good but the pub was very cold and needed to wear our coats, we was seated opposite a large open fire but wasn't lit our teeth was chattering and pleased to return to our holiday lodge, was a shame because it is a lovely old pub with fantastic views.
