In a quite Scottish forest....Killiecrankie House delivers superb dining and sleep :)
My wife and I lucked into this Restaurant and B&B while researching places to visit on our recent trip thru Scotland this past summer. I came across this place while doing searches on the internet. The town of Pitlochry was on our drive route so I searched to see what kind of accommodations might be available? Lo and behold, Killiecrankie House popped up and I read about what they offer. Let me tell you that what they offer is just spectacular! It just so happened that they had an opening for their Prix Fix dinner on the day that we would be passing through AND they had a room to offer for us to spend the night! As we would come to find out, both of these opportunities were very rare indeed as the Killiecrankie House was voted the Best Restaurant & Hotel in Scotland for 2025 !! And with very good reason....this place was storybook magical!
The opportunity to join in the Chef's Tasting Menu dinner was so fun and enlightening for us. My wife worked for our local foodbank and schools to create learning gardens at each of the over 30 local elementary, middle and high schools....so she is totally in tune with farm to table concepts. The Killiecrankie House has an impressive on site garden where they are able to grow and incorporate a variety of vegetables and berries into the daily menus which they create. They supplement their needs by using a variety of high quality, local and international food stuffs. Merge these great food products with the exotic cooking experiences that Tom & Matilda bring to their kitchen and they were able to deliver a wonderful variety of dishes that stretched the boundaries of fine dining! We enjoyed the whole evening entirely!! And if you are a non-alcohol drinker, their in-house "mocktails" are so creative and flavorful that you must try them.... even if you enjoy a great scotch like I do, these drinks are wonderful.
If you are also in need of a room for overnighting and you are lucky enough to get one here at the Killiecrankie House...you will love the opportunity! Their beds and linens are to die for, they have full size soaking tubs and you will also be able to enjoy the breakfast that they create in the morning. The extra time on property will also allow you to stroll in their gardens and enjoy a late nite scotch at their bar.

What an amazing stay. Well deserved of that one star. Here’s to a second star!
We just returned from an absolutely amazing dinner and stay at Killiecrankie House.
We were due to stay and dine back in April but the storm prevented us from travelling. So the hotel kindly postponed the stay.
Upon arrival, we were shown to room 4. Decent four poster bed and bathtub in the room. Large bathroom with two sinks. Tasteful decorations.
This is a grand house with its own garden and there’s great paths to soliders leap and Killiecrankie.
We promptly went down for us dinner at seven. The bar was cozy and great to check out all the bottles. I opted for cocktail whilst hubby had his beer.
We did snack on four dishes at the bar before being shown to the dining room. Extremely spacious and full view to the kitchen. Extremely clean. Organised and well oiled machine.
We decided to share a bottle of gavi. The dishes were absolutely stunning and out of this world. Full of Japanese influence which was perfect for me.
We finished with a glass of English fizz each and tea before bed.
Slept like a log so it must have been the great Scottish fresh air.
The food was extremely innovative and we love that the dishes were all printed for keeping. Also love the fact we had their playlist of music for the evening.

A Wonderful Experience
This is such a wonderful experience. This was towards the end of our travels in Scotland and we stayed for one night. Had a wonderful whisky tasting with Matilda and an amazing Dinner. This was a tasting menu with 10 or more items. The kitchen is open so you can watch the cooks making the meals. They were also the people that brought the food to your table and explained what it was. Every bit was delicious and beautiful. They also had music chosen for the whole meal. The rooms was very comfortable. Just an all around wonderful experience.

Michelin starred restaurant in Killiekrankie. Flawless!
Were staying in a shepherd's hut in Killikrankie and knowing that the weather wasn't going to be great on our second day looked for somewhere local for lunch, not expecting anything very special to be honest! Not only did this place turn out to be a ten minute walk from where we were staying meaning that trying to get a taxi wasn't an issue but it turned out to have a Michelin star! Not cheap but everything was perfect. Staff and owners were all charming, knowledgeable and passionate. Slightly unusual cocktails, sake features, delicious, served with three of the best amuse-bouches we'd ever had, the beek tartare one was historic! Six course taster menu followed, beautifully created and presented, along with a wine pairing. There's a lot of Japanese influence throughout, couldn't fault a thing, great music too, and a nice touch at the end was getting a copy of the menu and the playlist. Couldn't recommend it more highly. A Michelin star restaurant in Killikrankie, who'd have thought!

everything was excellent
from arrival to leaving everything was absolutely spot on. cocktails when we arrived were delightful and slightly unusual. every course we had (and there were many) were wonderful, we tried afterwards to pick a favourite and couldn't manage it. we had the wine flight (which is unusual for us) and it was spot on. a great restaurant with lovely and knowledgeable owners and staff
