A wonderful building, beautifully renovated with very welcoming staff where nothing was too much trouble.

Don’t bother
Extremely disappointing. Sat outside for a meal. Had a long wait for the main course, no one checked to see if everything was ok. Had to ask them to come and clear table when we had finished. Ordered coffees and desserts. Coffees arrived, desserts did not. Went to pay bill and advised them how poor the service was, waitress said she would deduct dessert and service charge. Told her we wouldn’t have paid it as service was appalling. Also asked her to advise someone more senior of the situation. Staff did not seem that bothered by our comments and concerns. Wouldn’t rush back.

Our wedding June 2026
From our first meeting at Stanbrook, we knew it was where we were getting married, it simply fit everything we could have wished for. The wedding ended up being everything we could ever have dreamt of.
Our meetings with Caylie always covered every question or worry we had when organising. Nothing was too much for Caylie , and any queries or requests were always met with genuine care that our day was everything we wanted it to be.
Caylie was always so attentive, talking us through every stage, and as we got closer to the day, every single detail was thought of. Caylie went over and above for us, and she is incredibly good at her job. Without her, the process would have undoubtedly been stressful and confusing.
On the day, Caylie was on hand to be a familiar face throughout the ceremony- which was an added bonus.
Clyde, who is a fantastic member of the team assisted us throughout the day. Clyde also went over and above for us and our guests, nothing was too much for him. Caylie, Clyde, and your extended team assisted in making it the best day of our lives. We will be forever grateful.

Exceptional staff
Lovely hotel with exceptional staff - really friendly and helpful. Nice rooms, very clean and good restaurant (although maybe a bit pricey). Good range of choices for breakfast.

Please lord l, let it not be real !!
Awful slow service and overpriced tiny badly cooked portions of.. ok let's called it food for the sake of the review.
Someone in the restaurant needs to take charge and help the flow. Its just teenagers all wandering amelessly and hoping it figures itself out by the end of service.
With shocking design elements to a beautiful old building that include horrendous pink seating arrangements in faux leather and banquets in the dining room surrounded by £9.99 B&Q wallpaper. Just awful. Who dreams up such rubbish. Its not cool or trendy. Its just of very poor taste by some fool who believes its what people want. It is not, not even close.
The lobby looks like it took inspiration from an airport lounge with ultra tacky garish plastic seating and plastic fake marble panelling and it doesnt improve as you go on.
Any good areas are simply old hallways that lead to somewhere else of extreme awful taste.
Dont these hotel designers get out of the house? It feels like a copy and paste of anything that was done badly before with zero consideration to the building its soon to wreck.
Avoid this place like the plague.
Its awful to such a degree it feels like a bad dream but it wasn't. It was a reality hit that nobody there is paying attention to.
You'll want to eat if your'e starving and get out quick if youre lucky enough to even get a drink brought to the table before the twenty five minute mark or simply have a waitress come to the table before the fifteen minute mark.
Dont expect that waitress to know what the soup of the day is though even if it is 2:30pm.
Ensure you have the gravy brought separately with your roast.
Its so thick, slimy and putrid. Save it for oiling your lawnmower when you get home or keep it for tarring that old patch on your shed roof. Whatever you do, dont even taste it. Beware- bad belly alert !
Now get in your car and pray to your god that you never even accidentally return. Because if you do your'e sure to be totally unlucky or you are a complete mental or suffering a life breakdown and coukdnt care less anyway !
