Excellent and comfortable stay
My husband took me there for my birthday with friends. I can honestly say I was incredibly impressed. The newly refurbished hotel is elegant and very comfortable. I can honestly say out of all the hotels I have stayed at all over the world this one was the best. Fantastic spacious room with a sea view and well laid out. The room was quiet - no corridor noise , banging doors or shouting and the hotel was full with families, children , coupes and dogs amongst the guests. The Coast restaurant is superb. A lovely selection on the menu and all of us agreed that the food was absolutely delicious, fine dining at its best. Anthony and staff went out of their way to make sure we had a great stay. Would definitely recommend.

It is advertised as a hotel, but after paying upfront I received an email to say it was running as a self service guest house. Therefore no restaurant as advertised. We had stayed in the Llawnroc Hotel some years ago when it was actually a hotel, and enjoyed our stay.
The quality of the rooms are good, but it is not being maintained. Obviously the owners are just renting out the rooms to get some income until it is sold. Maria seems to be doing everything when she is on site, and tries her best to oblige.
The shower was temperamental and I had to ask Maria if she could help as it was only producing hot water. There was air conditioning but it didn’t work. The milk in the in room fridge was off when we went to use, and the tv kept losing it’s signal.
All in all it was a disappointing stay so we only stayed one night instead of the two that we booked.
I feel that the information on the Trip.com site is not correct about this venue. There was also no option to cancel the booking once I was informed that it was now a self service guest house.

Special Birthday Treat - The Llawnroc Hotel.
I took my partner for a three-night stay at the Llawnroc Hotel in mid September 2024 for a 60th birthday surprise. She had no idea where we were going. Maria on reception was incredibly friendly and helpful and had already helped me prepare the ground with a 'Superior Room with Sea View' and a table booked in the restaurant for our first evening.
From the moment we arrived, I knew it was going to be special. The hotel is beautiful, everything right down to the decor and furnishings was first class and the view from the room was indeed breathtaking (on our first night, from our bedroom window, we saw a harvest moon over a calm sea - pretty unforgettable). Darren the chef made us two lovely meals, a two-course with excellent and good value wine on the first night and a fine tapas selection on our last night. The hotel is in the village of Gorran Haven; it has a beautiful old harbour and a fine beach. It also has some quirky little shops and an excellent cafe. Nearby, the town of Mevagissey is an interesting old Cornish fishing town with lots to do, and we went (a little further away) to Fowey for another treat, the home of Daphne du Maurier of 'Rebecca' and 'The Birds' fame, both made into films by Alfred Hitchcock.
All in all, I can highly recommend the Llawnroc Hotel and I'm sure, as many others will say, it will demand more than one visit. We certainly intend going back.

Highly Recommended
I stayed at LLawnroc for two nights whilst attending a family wedding nearby. From the booking of the hotel, to the communication from staff even on the day of arrival was customer focussed, timely and informative. Maria on reception was excellent, friendly, helpful and made me feel welcome from the moment I walked through the door, even helping me recharge my mobile phone! The room was beautiful, with sea views. All the staff were great, the restaurant was beyond my expectations, the food was outstanding, the choice of wine with my early evening snack was spot ono and the breakfast choices were brilliant. I wish I could have stayed longer, will be returning next year for a much longer stay. Thank you for making my stay memorable and welcoming.

Awful!!!!!!
Where do I start.
Booked this so called hotel through a site called pets pyjamas.
Wanted a nice coastal dog friendly middle of the range hotel .
Booked four nights dinner bed and breakfast .
The restaurant which is NOT part of the hotel is fantastic. Food fabulous.
However this is where it ends.
Dog area has overflowing dog Pooh bin and very small overgrown afterthought area.
Hotel is staffed by hard working skeleton multi tasking staff.
Not their fault.
Public areas not that clean.
Our hotel room was supposed to be luxury sea view what a joke .
Main view was dog area and a large stagnant rain soaked flat roof.
Cushions missing on terrace.
Some areas out of bounds
Car park filthy
Vegetation overgrown
Air Con turned off
Wi fi rubbish
Ethernet cable in room yes I know throw back !!!
NOT working and not been for months.
We booked four nights
Going home tomorrow having stayed two.

We pride ourselves on our dog friendly approach, and We take all guest feedback very seriously. We would like to address the concerns you’ve raised:
The dog area is regularly mowed by our maintenance team, we provide this area for dogs staying with us and we apologies that the dog bin was overflowing, this is not the standard we aim for, and this has since been addressed. The hotel is gratefully located a short walk to local beaches that are both dog friendly as well as the beautiful southwest costal path which allows for additional exercising requirements. We aim to make furry companions most welcome by the staff and also provide a welcome pack with treats.
We are a small team and work hard to maintain that the hotel is kept clean. We do regret that the cleanliness of the communal areas was not reflected during your stay, we also regret that you felt the staffing levels were insufficient, and I appreciate your recognition of the hard work of our team members. We are currently addressing staffing challenges, and your feedback will help us continue to make adjustments where needed.
We appreciate your concerns regarding the Wi-Fi, Our Wi-Fi is available for the majority of the hotel, there has recently been an issue with the Wi-Fi connectivity in certain areas of the hotel. We are looking into a method to be able to provide a better connection in areas that are not as close to the router, we do apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.
The closed off areas that you refer to is our second bar and orangery area this is available for private hire only.
We understand in warmer weathers Aircon can be desirable, Aircon is not something we advertise as part of a stay at the hotel however we do provide fans for guests when required to accommodate the sunny weather.
While we are glad to hear that you enjoyed your meals at the restaurant, we are especially sorry that your room did not live up to the luxury and comfort you expected.
Your suggestion regarding new management has been noted, and we are actively working to ensure that every guest experience reflects our commitment to quality service and care.
