Last time I visit
Stayed two nights at the Scole Inn the first weekend in June. I was in room 19. The bedding was clean as were the towels and the bed was comfy. Tea and coffee facilities were good except that the bathroom tap warns that the water is not for drinking though a couple of small bottles of drinking water were provided. The room is in converted carriage or similar outbuildings, no doubt of great age. Maybe that is why the floorboards creaked alarmingly, probably to the consternation of guests in other rooms.
The age of the building is no excuse for the thick layers of dust on almost every horizontal surface and every corner or the dustwebs on the outside of the bathroom door and the carpet in need of a deep clean. The television worked but the poor sound quality meant that speech was difficult to follow. The towel holder in the bathroom was hanging on the wall at a drunken angle due to one screw only in the wall (the other had pulled out)
An hour with a vacuum crevice tool and a damp cloth and a duster would make a huge improvement but really much more than that is needed to make the room serviceable. This was my fourth but definitely last stay at this hotel.

Arrived at the hotel plenty of parking and checked in fine however as its an older property room was ok bit on the smaller side and due to period features the floor was not level etc and the room was quite stuffy. Could have done with more plugs and although their was water in the room it was on the warmer side so could have done with a fridge also. They kindly booked us a table at the hotel restaurant but when we got down for dinner the restaurant wasn't ready and although the food was good the limited staff were so busy as there was only 2 members manning the restaurant the bar and the hotel meant that service was slow. There was also no phone signal at the hotel so trying to book a taxi seemed impossible and with no one on the hotel desk to help to use a landline. Breakfast service was similar also 1 member of staff manaing breakfast and the hotel so meant slow service. It was comfortable enough and if staying the the area convenient for 1 night but wouldn't be in a rush to go back.

Very poor
Booked online to stay at the hotel but when I got there it was closed. Apparently they posted on Facebook to say they were shut for January but failed to stop the online booking system for those dates. Phoned for manager several times and always promised a call back but still waiting. Also emailed and no reply. Do still waiting for my refund. Poor customer service, avoid!!!!

due to the age of the property, very cold. poor wifi again possibly due to the age of the property. Staff very friendly and helpful

Very Disappointing
We booked a standard double room for 3 nights and mentioned that we would be bringing our dog. Payment was taken but no confirmation followed. As our trip approached we phoned to confirm that it was OK to bring our dog and were advised that we would be put in one of their dog friendly rooms. Bear in mind that we had paid for a standard double room.
On arrival we were allocated a dog friendly room in the stable block which was so small there was no space for the dog's bed. The tiny room was shabby and dirty (dust on headboard, stains on the carpet) as was the bathroom (mould round the bath, shower holder wouldn't stay up, no bin).
The hotel seemed severely understaffed with very young people handling reception, bar and waiting in restaurant. I must say that they were very polite and hard working.
When we returned our key on departure we were asked to pay £15 for the dog which I refused to pay for the reasons stated above. This hotel Isn't dog owner friendly as we were treated as second class citizens as far as the accommodation is concerned - there is no comparison to their standard double room and the room we were given.
I have contacted the hotel via their complaints section and my husband has phoned asking to speak to the manger but have received no response so far.
