Best B&B experience ever
This clearly was the best B&B experience I have ever had anywhere. It helps that is was built as a B&B and not a home converted into one. It has 5 guest rooms, all upstairs. The rooms are very comfortable and super insulated for internal and external sound and climate. Downstairs is the dining room, with tables for each room, a sizeable living room and a comfortable sunroom where guests gathered when we were there. The attention to decorating is impeccable. It is a moderate walk to the left when exiting from the ferry, but they provide complimentary transportation to the ferry when arriving and departing. The breakfast is fantastic: fresh fruit and cereals waiting when you get to the dining room. Coffee, hot tea, and hot chocolate served very quickly. Breakfast offerings include traditional Scottish breakfast and other options. My favorite was smoked salmon over scrambled eggs with a side of seasoned mushrooms. There's not enough space to praise Richard. He welcomes you upon your arrival, having arranged your pickup from the ferry, and orients you to the Ardoran. He is a wealth of knowledge about the history of Iona, places to eat and things to do. His attention to detail and the comfort of every guest is astounding. Something I've never encountered at any B&B is from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. Richard invites all guests, optionally, to have a glass of wine in the sunroom. More than any other B&B that I've ever stayed, this allows guests to meet one another, with conversations varying from where they're from, interesting things they've done, previous visits to Iona, how long they're staying, and an abundance of recommendations of things to do and restaurants, even favorite dishes. Richard participates in the conversations and shares things about himself without ever dominating. He goes out of his way to know your departing time so he can coordinate it with your last breakfast and arranging transportatopm to the ferry.

Exceptional !
Exceptional ! Richard is a wonderful host and his home is immaculate. Tastefully decorated and very clean. Wonderful touches, tea and coffee in the room, super comfy bed and fluffy towels. Everything you need and more. Right next to the sea and a short walk to restaurants. Richard provides breakfasts fit for a King. Can't wait to return to this gem of a place !

Amazing B and B
Superb B&B Beautiful spacious accommodation very tastefully decorated excellent breakfast, we received a very warm welcome from our host Richard supplying a taxi arriving and departing as well as a welcome We also received a nice glass of wine before dinner. Fantastic Band B Highly recommended . Five Star PLUS.

Pilgrimage to Iona made even better by Ardoran House
Wonderfully comfortable guest house on the island of Iona. Richard is fascinating, and his home includes a solarium and a living room that are snug and inviting. Breakfast included continental selections as well as a cooked-to-order Scottish breakfast. The island of Iona is fascinating, filled with both sheep and history - a great place to wander and enjoy.
