Budget hotel but all good

We have stayed at a number of Ibis Budget hotels so we certainly know what to expect.
We were staying here the night before going on a cruise so it's ideally placed for that. Literally a 5 minute walk from the train station to the hotel (there a few hotels nearby).
Checked it at 2pm and our room was a double, clean, tidy and exactly as expected. No kettle or hairdryer as is the norm for IBIS BUDGET. You can get complimentary hot drinks from the Reception area.
Shower was good as was the air cooling system (not air con but perfectly fine). Slept well and heard no noise at all during the night.
There is a Macdonalds next door plus a TGI Fridays and a few shops too eg Boots, Lidl (soon to open).
We walked to Wetherspoons which was an easy flat 15 minute walk.
Taxi to the port was £8. We could have walked but we had luggage and tackling the roads wasn't easy.
All in all an absolutely fine stay.

Every Ibis budget rooms are the same so you know whats you gonna get. It was exactly what we needed, a room for the night before our cruise. The breakfast was terrible. The room was full, several item was missing and the staff did not refill them.

Quietly surprised!

Seeing some of the previous reviews for this hotel I think we must of dropped lucky because our room was very nice, we had an accessible room and it was huge, the bathroom was even bigger. Yes it could do with an upgrade in painting and better bathroom amenities and definitely more plug sockets, but the room/bathroom was very clean and the bed was very comfy. Breakfast was very basic with just cereal, toast and croissants, tea’s coffees and juices were also available. What was a nice surprise was that literally next door was a McDonalds and a TGI Fridays also a quick 3 minute walk was a mini shopping centre with a Boots, Food Warehouse, Argos, the biggest IKEA I’ve ever seen and many more shops. It is also only a 10 minute walk to the train station and city centre, and a 10 minute walk to the Horizon cruise terminal (which is what we were there for). So all in all I would stay here again!

Centrally located; easy walk off cruise ships and to the train station.
Minimalist furnished room with sufficient space.
Helpful staff, secure access to the building and rooms .
Easy walk to shopping, the old Town with its many restaurants and historic buildings.
Would stay here again.

Absolutely perfect fit a cheap stay in the City. Super close to Centre/Station, basic but clean and friendly with everything you need. Totally recommend.
