Pay so much for a room, I would expect the sheet not to be ripped.

We spent one night at the hotel as it was near a family gathering in the village. We were pleased with our room and the welcome we received at reception. Breakfast was plentiful and we would return.

Our room was in the newer extension - slightly naff fake old decor but very comfortable, clean, shower was good, teas & coffees in the room with biscuits, with lovely views of the fields.
We ate in The Jacobean Pub onsite - two courses each for £50 in total. I categorise it as good pub food. Seating area outside was lovely - really enjoyed sitting in the sunshine.
Grounds were well maintained and pretty - the wildflower area had a lovely swing to sit on.
Full English breakfast buffet was delicious as was the various fresh fruits provided - I made a fruit salad with yoghurt. Lots of choice including porridge pots, crumpets & muffins to toast etc
Two public bridleways right out the gate - lovely for walks.
There was a wedding on the night we stayed and whilst the hotel did email to say there was a function on and that the noise would stop at midnight - they didn't explain that you had to literally walk right through the wedding guests to get to our room which was really awkward.

Great location just off the A1 with welcoming staff; food and rooms good

Stayed here overnight, and arrived to find that we'd been unexpectedly upgraded. The room was fabulously huge with everything spotless and working. Beds were very firm, but still comfortable. We had dinner in the Jacobean pub next door; which was tasty; my husband's fish and chips were spot on. For breakfast we had the continental which was fresh and enjoyable. The machine-brewed coffee was actually quite good for a change, and we checked out rested, fed and watered for our onward journey south.
We'd stay here again for definite, even without an upgrade.

Thoughtless hosts

Stayed here for two nights on business. The first night was fine - pleasant staff - clean and comfortable room and an excellent breakfast. Unfortunately that was totally overshadowed by a very unpleasant second night. The hotel was hosting a school prom. This meant that there was incredibly loud dance music playing until 11pm. Despite my wearing noise-cancelling headphones I could not escalate the music as the volume was so loud and the soundproofing in my room was so poor. Whilst I'm sure the kids had a wonderful time I lit meant I had a very late night - or what I had planned or needed on a business trip.

Im delighted that you enjoyed your first nights stay at the hotel, the second would be no different except we held a prom which finishes at 11pm prompt.
We always make guests aware of potential noise as we are a venue who hosts weddings and functions such as these.
