Old-fashioned service with fabulous food, lovely staff , retro atmosphere.

If you value top quality food and friendly service then don’t be put off by the vintage decor. Traditional hotel has beer in for nearly 80 years in same way, we had a small twin upstairs ( no lift ) very clean but sadly let down by weak shower which needs replacing. Fan in wardrobe was a nice touch , menu left in room each day table d’hote main course £21 deserts £9 worth every penny. We had the best lemon sole in cream sauce with pommes lyonnaise, leeks in cheese sauce , julienne carrots , huge portions. Husband had very tender beef in ale casserole. Breakfast is a wonderful experience! Menu huge and incredibly generous, waitress service , large silver teapots with hot water jug , done the old- fashioned way , extra toast or hot drinks no problem. You will not be disappointed. Easy walk to promenade to catch open top bus which was a big help with our health problems to see sights of Whitby for £8.50

Hotel very clean, WiFi abysmal , should be discontinued from bill, breakfast excellent , staff very polite & helpful, some modernising needed, comfortable stay ,overall was overpriced, beware no lift if have any additional needs. Parking good.

You got a very warm welcome at reception when you arrived. Staff couldn’t be more accommodating. Breakfast with lovely service was fantastic. Rooms were very clean. Good parking facilities. yes, I will come back again and yes, I would recommend it.

Lovely hotel

Just spent 3 nights in the Saxonville. Booked it the night before en route due to all positive reviews. It certainly didn't dissapoint. We arrived late morning - long before check in.Reception were more than happy take our bags and direct us where to go for a few hours. Our room was lovely albeit not huge but definitely not old fashioned as some reviews have said. Spotlessly clean as was the whole hotel. Housekeeping were in every morning while we had breakfast. We would go back upstairs to find our room immaculate again - thank you. We had dinner one night - food and service excellent as was breakfast every day. It is in some ways a wee step back in time -dining experience - not many places do waitress service and all waiting staff are dressed immaculately in white and black but that's not a bad thing at all. Each and every member of staff in the hotel were absolutely lovely and so helpful. Thank you all.

Just a relaxing weekend stay, lovely hotel, booked a single room, but would have liked 2 or larger bath towels, also missed a fridge and iron/ing board. That's where the grumble ends. Lovely hotel, lovely room, lovely staff. Breakfast is something else, full waitress service. Didn't book any other meals, but would recommend if time pressured. Could not fault service or room quality and cleanliness. Thanks team, lovely stay.
