Great centrally located hotel with lovely modern facilities
Hotel is on the edge of old city centre. Its clean modern and well equipped and maintained. Staff were helpful and informative. Room was lovely. Breakfast was delicious, fresh fruit and tasty full English. Roof bar was always full so we didn't get much benefit from it. Parking was expensive but we checked the council website & got free parking, including overnight with our Blue Badge. Overall I would recommend Hotel.

Afternoon Tea
My friend and I visited Malmaison for Afternoon Tea - it was fabulous!!!
Anthony who was our waiter was very attentive- he went out of his way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. Our tea/coffee/ water were topped up throughout. The food was amazing with Slider Burgers, Prawn Cocktail and a spicy Chicken bite. The scones were delicious- as were the rest of the deserts!! We took some home with us too! We took the lift to the Roof Top Bar- unfortunately it was fully booked so we didn't have a drink- but the views were stunning.
Anthony is a credit to your team in York- polite, friendly and attentive! He gets a 10/10 from us!!

Failed our expectations sadly
Potentially a great hotel but the roof top bar was closed on Mondays and Tuesdays in peak season and when open allows small children and babies? This is a great cocktail bar with live jazz. It’s an adult space. The main restaurant was mediocre at best unfortunately

Fantastic Stay, Exceptional Service
Our stay at Malmaison York was excellent from start to finish. The room was spotless, beautifully presented, and very comfortable, making for a fantastic overnight stay.
What really made our visit, however, was the exceptional service in the hotel’s restaurant. We arrived at around 10:00am and spent the day holding business meetings in the restaurant until late afternoon, before checking into our room. Throughout the day, the restaurant team looked after us incredibly well and made us feel genuinely welcome.
A special mention goes to Sara and Cathy, who’s service was outstanding. They were attentive, friendly, and always on hand to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Their excellent customer service really enhanced our experience.
The food was fantastic, and the drinks were equally excellent. Before leaving, we spoke with Alice, who was warm, approachable, and extremely helpful - a great reflection of the hotel’s ethos.
Based on this experience, we will certainly be returning to Malmaison York. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a hotel that combines excellent accommodation, exceptional food and drink, and truly first-class customer service.

Car parking must be booked in advance of your stay. Alternatively, there is an NCP car park on Tanner Row, just a couple of minutes walk from the hotel reception. Prices are approximately £40.00 for 24 hours. The Breakfast inclusive rates include a Full-cooked breakfast and Dinner inclusive rates includes 2 courses from our Seasonal A’ la Carte menu and a side dish. Supplements apply to certain items. Inclusions only apply to adults. Children’s Breakfast is not included in the advertised rates and the charges are as follows directly to the hotel: 0-4 years old – Breakfast Complimentary/5- 11 years old – Breakfast charged at 50% full price/ 12 and over breakfast charged at full adult price. Kids Dinner Menu is also available. Please note extra beds and cots must be confirmed with the hotel prior to arrival, customers will be required to settle children's extra bed charges (£30 per night) directly with the hotel.
