Basic but good!

After the nearby hostel forgot about my late check in, I walked down the road to Max Hotel and asked for a room. Luckily, they had one! The hotel is very basic, with a somewhat Communist-era feel about it, but despite being basic it was clean and the bed was comfortable and I had a good nights sleep. The free breakfast was also decent in the morning. The staff are friendly and very helpful. Front rooms face the road where trams go by quite loudly, so if you have one of these rooms bring ear plugs. Can't really fault the place, you get what you pay for and if I found myself stranded in Ostrava again, I'd stay here! And it's 2 minutes walk from the railway station.

Outdated rooms but friendly staff

The rooms are located on upstairs to a bar and restaurant. The rooms, carpets, furniture, layout, amenities and bathroom are very very outdated - very 1970s communist era feel. What is really boils down to is the room is very cold during cold nights. The shower and sink has hot water though. I was a single person travelling and I was given a room with 3 beds in in - luckily so as I had to use all 3 duvets/blankets to keep myself warm at night (it was end of May/spring).
Now the good bits - the staff and the location. The breakfast in this place is fine and the staff are really friendly. The hotel is located just 3-4 mins walk from the Ostrava station. This hotel is 30-45 mins by public transport from the airport. There is a direct train departing from Mosnov, Ostrava-Airport and arriving at Ostrava hl.n. (Ostrava train station) but is infrequent. Alternatively, bus Line 910 333 (stop situated in front of arrival hall) will take you to the city centre and then you need to change to tram (for Ostrava train station).

Tired building, but close to the station!

Arrived here late night, check in is at the Bar, where they have old adverts of the Ice hockey championships from 2004! I had some problem with the key to work, the bathroom and tv were nice, and the room not too bad. I did not sample the free breakfast, but it looked nice for the price which was paid for the room.

A dirty old relic

The Hotel seems to be an old communist relic. There are no lifts in the hotel. The rooms had just the bare necessities. Taps in bathroom were not working properly. Breakfast was surprisingly decent though with just limited variety. We checked in at night at 1 am and checked out at 8.30 am

Try to look somewhere around to find a better place

The hotel was old-schoolish - the restaurant, rooms as well as the b-fast. The room was having windows to a very noisy street where the locals play loud music during the day so it was not that quiet. The rooms were furnished with a very old furniture and were not really clean (found some rubbish under the bed as well as in the bathroom).
Would not come back or recommend.
