Relaxing Summer Escape at Hotel Piatra Mare

I spent a wonderful holiday at Hotel Piatra Mare in Poiana Brașov and I couldn’t be more pleased. The location is ideal – surrounded by fresh mountain air and peaceful nature, just perfect for hiking, relaxation, and escaping the city heat.
My room was spacious, clean, and had a beautiful view. The staff was warm, welcoming, and always ready to help with a smile.
One of my favorite parts of the stay was the indoor pool – it's the largest hotel pool in Romania, and it was a real treat to enjoy a swim even on cooler mountain days.
Breakfast was fresh and delicious every morning, and the quiet, elegant atmosphere of the hotel made my stay feel truly relaxing.
If you’re looking for a peaceful summer retreat in the mountains, I highly recommend Hotel Piatra Mare. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

Skiing trip

We stayed three nights at Piatra Mare and overall had a good experience. The staff were friendly and welcoming throughout our stay, and the breakfast was very good with plenty of options to choose from. The swimming pool was excellent — very warm and exactly what you need after a full day of skiing. We also booked a massage, which was fantastic; I highly recommend Michaela, who did a great job and it was one of the highlights of our stay. The location is great, just 10 minutes from the gondola and close to the main attractions. The only downside is that the rooms feel tired and could use some attention and refurbishment. I’m not particularly fussy, but guests with high expectations of a 4-star hotel might be disappointed. Overall, a pleasant stay with great amenities and service, but the rooms would benefit from some updates.

Review Hotel Piatra Mare (Poiana Brasov, Romania)

The Hotel Piatra Mare in Poiana Brasov looks like an impressive structure with a decidedly modern exterior design that immediately catches the eye. Crossing the threshold, the initial impression is positive thanks to a spacious and bright lobby, dominated by the elegance of the marble covering the floors and walls.
However, if you continue inside the hotel, you can feel a slightly less contemporary atmosphere. Although well maintained, the rest of the structure shows signs of aging, with decor that would need an update to align with the lobby design.
The hotel restaurant is on a medium level. The quality of the food does not stand out for particular excellences, but neither does it have serious shortcomings, suitable for meeting basic needs without offering a memorable dining experience. A point definitely in favor is instead the kindness and preparation of the waiting staff, always available and ready to meet the requests of guests.
A real strength of the Hotel Piatra Mare is represented by its large swimming pool, a real invitation to relaxation and fun. The generous size allows you to swim comfortably and enjoy moments of leisure. The SPA area, while being an added value, is perhaps a little undersized compared to the capacity of the hotel and the number of guests present, potentially leading to crowding at peak times.
Finally, an element that undoubtedly enriches the experience is the beautiful view of the snowy mountains that can be admired from the hotel. This breathtaking view helps to create a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere, especially for those seeking an escape from the city surrounded by nature.

The impressive exterior design and lavish lobby promise a luxurious experience, which is partly scaled down by the older decor of the other areas. Pleasant hotel overlooking the resort

We had a great stay at this hotel. We had booked a suite on the eighth and last floor but upon arrival we were very disappointed with the suite assigned; not top layout, small openings, balcony with low wall too high, view of the pool building. We asked to change rooms and although the hotel was full (international congress of dermatologists right at the same time), IOANA (thanks to her!) struggled to find us a room on the 7th floor which, although of a lower classification, satisfied us by its size, its balcony surrounded by an openwork railing (and not a high wall) and above all its superb view of the whole resort and the mountains.
As everywhere in Romania, the bedding is a little too firm for our taste but we enjoyed the size of the bed (180).
The only really negative points of the room was the lack of storage space in the bedroom and bathroom (not enough shelves in the wardrobe, no drawers or shelves in the bedside tables, no storage under the sink) and especially the glaring lack of power outlets (no power outlets around the bed!!!)
Breakfast is good and varied but the dishes supposed to be served hot are barely warm (a microwave would be very useful) and it is very difficult to make tea: every morning, either the water supposed to be hot was not enough, or there were no tea cups available (only tiny coffee cups). Not tired, to manage to have a proper tea in the morning without waiting twenty minutes, I ended up preparing my own tea in the room (with bags taken the day before for breakfast and with my electric kettle) that I took to breakfast in my Travel Thermos.
We had all our dinners in the hotel: the room is very nice and airy, the food is quite correct and the staff very helpful, especially SACHIN which we particularly appreciated for its delicacy and kindness. The only negative point was the music unsuited (to the standing of a 4-star hotel and to the environment) broadcast too loudly in the dining room (the same applies to the hotel lobby: you are greeted by a Braille music that attacks, we would prefer a music distilling a cozy and warm atmosphere!)
The pool is huge and very beautiful but a little cold (and there is no hot tub to warm up); it would only take one or 2 degrees more for it to be great!
The very quiet environment of the hotel is only marred by construction work on a new tourist complex nearby (but this work should not last forever) and by the incessant barking of a poor dog locked 24 hours a day in a 6 m2 kennel in Villa Cristalfrost located next door....
