Amazing hospitality and an unforgettable local experience

I stayed at Gorilla Home Stay for one month with four other friends, as we were doing an internship at a hospital in Kigali. We booked one double room and three single rooms in the same section of the hostel. The rooms were clean, and we slept well. Overall, it was a very pleasant place to stay, and the price is really fair. It’s also a great place to stay if you want to meet people from all around the world and take part in activities with them.
The location of the hostel in Kimihurura is incredible. There are plenty of restaurants and coffee shops nearby, as well as many gift shops and padel courts just across the street. The neighborhood is very calm and safe, and we felt comfortable walking around on our own at any time of the day. It is also only 10–15 minutes away from many other neighborhoods and the city center, which makes it very convenient for exploring Kigali.
Finally, the hostel manager, Désiré, truly made a difference during our stay. He is a kind and honest person who is very dedicated to his job. He helped us many times with the moto-taxis and to find some drivers during our stay and gave us many tips that were really helpful.
But most importantly, Désiré took us to local community activities, to church, to the market, and even to his home village in the south of Rwanda. It was an incredible experience that allowed us to truly immerse ourselves in the local community and discover parts of the country that we would never have been able to experience on our own.
I would definitely recommend this hostel to anyone looking for a place to stay in Kigali!

A home away from home

I had a great time at Gorilla Home Stay! It felt like a home away from home! The owner is absolutely lovely - a driven, kind owner, who will selflessly take care of you. The place is clean, well-kept and well-ordered. The option to buy breakfast at the place is very reasonably priced, fresh and nutritious. You really will not regret booking here! I heard that a coffee place will soon open at the hostel, which I am sure will also add greatly to the charm of the place! Couldn't recommend more!

Great stay

Desire, the guy that runs the place is one of the most friendly and helpful hosts I’ve ever come across. The place is super reasonably priced and conveniently located and incredibly safe

Great location-cool place to stay

That's a cool place with lovely people from all around the world!
The owner is very welcoming with many kind of accomodation options. Dormitory, single-doublebed rooms...
The downtown is nearby - good location.
Great restaurants, bars ara in short walking distance.

Feel at home at Gorilla home stay

Had such a great time here for the first 2 weeks of my longer stay in Kigali. Amazing place to meet people, come together, learn about Rwanda and spent time with Desire (manager) and Enrique (worker). Went to church, cooked together and shared many experiences. Will definitely come back to this place when I need to find a hostel in Kigali again.
