Great experience...
Perfectly located to the city of Apia. Everything within walking distance. A small casino is right next to the hotel. Nice for the evening pastime. Around the corner is also a super Italian named Paddys. The hotel restaurant is also highly recommended. The few shops in Apia close at 5pm at the latest.
Great atmosphere in the hotel. On Fridays, FiaFia evening is in the hotel restaurant with local dancers.
Due to climate (heat and high humidity) everything is a bit attacked in the hotel and outdoor facilities. They try to keep everything in shape but it is a race against time. The furniture in the room would have to be changed. The beds were great and probably not that old. We had booked a Harbourview Room. The bathroom was a bit run down and the windows to the balcony cloudy. We then changed rooms the next day. They did everything to make us feel comfortable and we could choose a room. We saw some rooms in the process. The conditions were different. There are also many renovated rooms. You must also not forget where you are when evaluating. Different standards apply here.
Worth mentioning is the incredible kindness and warmth of the hotel staff and everyone in Samoa in general. We will come back and would also choose this place again.

Terrible...
We stayed one night at Aggie Grey’s Apia in August 2026 after booking a Premium Guest Room through Luxury Escapes for $433 NZD, including breakfast for two. Given the price and room category, I had expected a comfortable and memorable stay. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing. When we arrived, the air conditioning was running, but the room had a strong damp smell, similar to wet towels that had been left for days. The smell was so unpleasant that we could not use the air conditioning, meaning we had to sleep with the ranch slider open. Because of the constant road noise, including cars beeping and engines revving throughout the night, we barely slept. I understand the traffic noise itself is outside the hotel’s control, but if the air conditioning had been clean and usable, this would not have been such a problem. The room also did not feel properly cleaned. After showering and walking from the bathroom to the bed, the soles of my feet were almost black. The bathroom was another major issue: I am 5 ft 6, and I had to bend my knees to fit under the shower. The shower also leaked across the floor every time it was used. We were not provided with face cloths, and the hand soap had an unusual brown residue on it, which meant we used our own soap instead. The pool area was also disappointing. There was rubbish around the pool area and even rubbish in the pool itself. We saw staff walk past the rubbish without removing it, which was surprising, and the sides of the pool felt slimy. On a positive note, breakfast was enjoyable, and the coffee I ordered was very good. However, after returning home, I noticed an unexpected $83 NZD charge from the hotel on my credit card. I contacted the hotel on 17 August to ask what the charge was for, but I have not yet received a clear explanation. Overall, this was a very disappointing stay, especially for the price paid. Based on our experience, I would not recommend staying at Aggie Grey’s Apia.

Sheraton Samoa a disaster
The hotel was a disaster! Filthy rooms, a smell of mold, dirty towels, and hair everywhere—in every single room! We were a group of 25 people—15 rooms in total—and they were all just as dirty! The breakfast was atrocious!
There are only 8 sun loungers by the pool, and all the umbrellas are broken! A huge disappointment, Sheraton!

As a Sheriton it is a disgrace with the bathroom windows scewed shut because the locks no longer function while the all gender toilet in the main lobby can't be locked at all. We flooded two bedrooms due to a shower head not been able to be adjusted and the drain under the basin blocked. Our power kept cutting out and having to be reset untill it finally gave up completly on the last morning. Our door pass tabs kept failing requiring staff to let us back in. The beds had one bottom sheet only and an unajustable heavy winter duvet on top just what you want in the tropics and was it washed every change over? We had two balconies but only one outside chair to share so over all totally unaceptable for Maroit Bonvoy but upon complaining they did give us two free coffees wow.

Attention to Detail Needed!
Aggie Grey's Hotel is in a good location, if staying in Apia. It has a certain "South Pacific" charm to it. Upon arrival, we were extremely well looked after by the staff. The welcome drink (juice) was a pleasant surprise and added to the foyer ambience. We stayed in one of the bungalows and alas, were a little disappointed. Whilst clean, it was obvious that it needed some tending loving care. Our hand basin in the bathroom seemed blocked, as it took a long time for the water to go down the plug hole. The shower also had some signs of mould, which I'm sure the right cleaning products would have fixed. Whilst we didn't use the bathrobes, I did notice that there was only one in the wardrobe, but two of us staying. One of the bedside table lamps was in need of a new bulb, I think, as it was not working. More attention to the little things seemed needed. As we only had two nights at the hotel, we did not want to waste our time in reporting these things, but rather just put up with them. We stayed on a Friday and Saturday night and it was a bit noisy for our liking. Breakfast and service in the restaurant was also a bit hit and miss. However, overall we are glad we got to stay in this historic hotel.
