Barcelo Raval is a very good hotel in a not so good neighborhood (both taxi drivers we used, arriving and leaving told us the same thing) .
But inside is very good, with an outstanding observation deck on top floor, 360 degrees (whole city viewable) with a bar; this deck alone can make a difference.
So, you probably don't want to be walking outside the hotel at night, but if moving by taxi or other transportation, it's fine.

Beware that the pool is not a swimming pool it is at best a paddling pool that will fit about 4 kids in ! The sun loungers are chairs and there is no room at all to sunbathe so Do No Book This Hotel if you want to lay beside a pool and relax! The area it is in is very unsafe, we tried to walk to Las Ramblas and it took us down an alleyway full of unsavoury characters, eg. Large groups of men gathered in the alleyway and surrounding streets ! So feeling unsafe we turned back to the hotel and proceeded to get a taxi to go anywhere! It is NOT near a white sandy beach or any beach at all it is a 15 minutes drive in a taxi to the beach!
We didn’t sleep well as its very noisy ( we even moved rooms as the first night we didn’t sleep at all as we were facing a busy square where men seem to gather all day and night , we moved to the back which was slightly better but the rooms are not soundproof and you hear people coming and going inside the hotel as well as outside noise) If you want a relaxing break this hotel is not for you!
Hotel decor is lovely inside and they have spent money on contemporary furniture which could have been used to soundproof rooms ! Staff are ok and pretty helpful but id say this is an overnight hotel for cruises at best but definitely not a destination hotel . The description and photos are very misleading and they should not be allowed to make out the hotel is very close to a white sandy beach or any beach because it is not !

Great place but the neighborhood is reaaalllly sketchy. Saw a poor woman dragged to the ground as someone was stealing her necklace.

We stayed one night. Everyone was helpful, honest. The rooms were clean. Just a suggestion to add small wash clothes for bathing and showering.

Lovely hotel.
Great 360 viewing rooftop.
Rooms were spacious and pretty nice view across Barcelona.
Area where hotel is was a bit dodgy, I wouldn't be wearing expensive jewellery etc.
But apart from that all good.
