Worst hostel ever

This is the 3rd time I have added a review for this place. I have no idea what's going on but they keep getting negative reviews deleted.
The place is a mess. Me and a friend spent one night there. Both in separate rooms on opposite ends of the building. Both eaten alive by bed bugs. The whole place was dirty and the shower barely operable too.
We had booked a longer stay but fled promptly after our complaints recieved nothing but laughter and disdain from the man at the front desk.
I'm sad to see they remain in business. Do not go here! Barcelona has a 24 hour metro system, its fine to stay further outside the centre.

Dirty, not worth it!

Although the location was great, near a metro station, and the staff was friendly, the room wasn’t very clean and there were cockroaches! At night it was very noisy, and it was hard to sleep, and also the beds weren’t very comfortable.

No necesitaba más/I didn’t need anything else

Si lo que necesitas es dormir sin mucho ruido y bien comunicado (con línea 3, la verde, está a 2 paradas de Plaza Cataluña y 3 de Plaza España y Paseo de Gracia en metro), por ese precio está aceptable. Cama individual pequeña (cuidado si eres alto) y ducha fuera de la habitación (al menos, la mía). Como backpacker, no necesitas mucho más...
If you need a quiet place where to sleep and with a very good subway connection (2 stops from Plaza Cataluña and 3 from Plaza España and Paseo de Gracia, using línea 3, the green one), its price is affordable. Small single bed (be careful if you are tall) with a shower outside from the bedroom (at least, mine). If you are backpacking, you don’t need much more...

Not worth it

The receptionist in the morning shift is very unpleasant and not approachable at all. We did greet him many times and he would not even bother to look at us and greet us back. They told us also that they got hairdryers to lend, instead it was just ONE hairdryer for the whole hostal. Bathroom was even dirtier than public restrooms, the sink was clogged so water couldn’t go down and you could see mucus coming out from the drainage. Not to mention the small amout of water that comes out from the sink and shower that you couldn’t even get your entire body wet and one door of the shower is missing so the floor will be wet all the time and they don’t even provide floor mats. Beds were very small not suited for persons taller than 5’4. They don’t have fixed heater, only a small electric heater that stops continuously in the middle of the night. If you are looking for a hotel where to only sleep to and you don’t have many necessities, nearby the port and next to las rambla at a low cost then it could fit to you. The third night we opt to go to another hotel.
HOSTAL NILO WAS OUR WORST STAY AND DECISION IN OUR WHOLE TRAVEL EXPERIENCES.

Don’t book ! Visited in AUGUST 2018 !

Don’t book unless you are completely desperate. Tell you my story. My partner and I booked the room a few months in a advance and just before arriving warned that we’ll be coming after 12 am the following day as our plane might be delayed so they are aware and keep the room for us. Received a reply confirming that room is reserved and reception is 24/7 so no worries. Our plane was hugely delayed and we arrived around 2 am in the morning. The guy at the desk was very nice and checked us in pretty quickly BUT couldn’t find a key from our room for a while. Eventually he said that they must have lost the key and gave us an extra one that he had. I was initially slightly suspicious about the situation and ask if it’s possible that someone else is staying in that room - he confirmed it’s not possible. We went upstairs, im opening the door and ... there are people in the room angrily looking at me (I’m happy they didn’t throw anything at me as someone is breaking into their room at 2am in the morning AND also pretty happy I didn’t walk into them at any awkward moment). Anyway, I went back downstairs to let the guy know someone actually lives in that room, he was arguing for a bit saying it can’t be possible but eventually believed me. It took him another 20 or so minutes to figure out what to do with us after which he gave us a key from a different room. Again, I was slightly suspicious and asked TWICE if this is the same room we booked (bearing in mind that I don’t want to be moved anywhere else in the future) - he also confirmed twice. The first night was good after that, the room was slightly better than what we expected but I thought they might have provided us with some kind of upgrade after all they took us through. Next day, we were coming back to the hostel in the afternoon and the guy at the desk (without any greetings or apologies) says “you are moving tomorrow”. It got me angry I started asking questions, he said the guy last night made a terrible mistake and we paid for a different room so we have to move there tmr. I asked if we can pay extra to stay in the room we are (just to not have any more hassle) - he said it’s impossible. Apart from this, there are cockroaches in rooms and wifi doesn’t reach any rooms either. I would choose anything else BUT THIS PLACE.
