Top hotel in Castello d’Empuries

During our recent cycling holiday in Catalonia, we had the pleasure of staying three nights at Hotel Palau Macelli. Our experience was exceptional in every regard.
From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the always very helpful hotel team.
The rooms are spacious and tranquil. Each morning, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast, served with warmth.
We enjoyed the private wellness facilities of the hotel (not included in the room price).
No restaurant service, but restaurants enough in the neighbourhood of the hotel.
Ideal hotel to visit the town.

Beautiful place

A hotel renovated in an excellent way, in a very elegant fashion! The setting is magnificent with the basilica in the background!
Simple and elegant!
The rooms are spacious and very pretty; the decor is simple and clean! Superb
The rooftop pool with that stunning, unobstructed view
In the evening, a few small tapas in the garden is both friendly and soothing
Pleasant and attentive staff
I highly recommend it

We will be back!

What a surprise arriving in this sleep little Spanish town to find such a wonderful hotel. We stayed in room 3. It was huge, comfortable and with a lovely bathroom. The hotel was spotless, Breakfast was excellent and the staff super friendly and helpful. Really well priced too! Will be back.

Magnificent stay at a very charming hotel.

We stayed for 5 nights and had some wonderful days. Very spacious and quiet room. Exquisite treatment and a terrace with wonderful views where you can have a drink. An experience to repeat

Perfection!

The Palau Macelli is a rare and wonderful place. It is set in a beautiful, historic building which is full of character. It has been sensitively and elegantly restored and furnished with impeccable taste. As soon as you walk in the door you are struck by the serene and welcoming atmosphere.
Oleguer and Anna, who run the hotel, are an absolute delight and their customer service is exceptional. Nothing is too much trouble for them - they are brilliant (thank you!). Similarly, all the staff are truly wonderful and always eager to help with anything. A particular thank you to Nada and Adria who helped us with such warmth and kindness during our last stay.
The hotel rooms are exceptional - they are incredibly comfortable, beautifully furnished and a huge pleasure to stay in (they are also impeccably clean). The breakfast is delicious and is served by friendly and helpful staff. There is an awesome rooftop pool which has astounding views over the local town and away into the distance. The garden, where you can have drinks and wonderful Tapas, is an absolute haven.
Although it is quiet and peaceful, the hotel is in a fabulous location in the middle of the old town next the Basilica, and is within easy reach of lots of attractions and activities (eg the Bay of Roses, Skydiving at Empuriabrava, Cadaques, the Dali Museum in Figueres..).
I would highly recommend this hotel - it is amazing!
