Great architecture and good service, overshadowed by the room assignment policy
A beautiful hotel, with a well-chosen modern touch and integrated into an iconic building of Gijón's architecture. I really liked that they preserve the essence of the old residential building, such as the original stairs with their landings and the old doors to the apartments. The terrace, although small, is worth a brief visit (it is accessed through the gym), and the staff service was proper at all times.
However, what disappointed me the most was the room assignment policy and its rates. They charge the same price for rooms on the main facade as for those facing the back street. In the latter, especially on the lower floors, the proximity to the apartments in the neighborhood across the way is such that opening the curtains means an absolute loss of privacy, forcing you to completely forgo natural light.
A high floor or one with good views does not have the same value as a ground floor facing a narrow alley; the hotel should differentiate its prices based on that. Furthermore, having arrived after noon—a time when availability increases after check-outs—they didn't even consult us or give us options regarding it before assigning us the room.

En este sentido, nos gustaría aclarar que en nuestro hotel no comercializamos las habitaciones en función de sus vistas, sino por tipologías de habitación, con unas características y categorías concretas. Al tratarse de un hotel urbano integrado en un edificio emblemático de Gijón, las vistas desde nuestras habitaciones son, en general, a los edificios y al entorno urbano que nos rodea.
Entendemos, no obstante, que la percepción de una habitación puede variar en función de su orientación y altura, y tomamos nota de su comentario sobre la privacidad y la luz natural.

Exceptional stay. Staff was delightful to interact with, very helpful and friendly. Room was super clean. The property is optimally located in proximity to everything we wanted to see and do. Great stay! Thanks!

Nice but could do better
We stayed here one night, and have stayed here before... overall it is a very nice hotel, very friendly staff ( thank you for the bar with tapas recommendations!), last time we had a junior suite outside holiday season. This time a regular room for Eur 266 a night, that was a bit less favourable. For eur 266,- a night we expect a fridge, coffee machine, bathrobes....all not in the room... Gentlemen, please work on your gym... What can we do with weights without a bench please?
The location of the hotel is super central, all between 2 beaches or close to and walking distance from the centre.

Regarding your comments, we would like to point out that your stay took place in August, the busiest month of the year in the city and, consequently, also one of the periods with the highest rates.
With regard to the amenities you mentioned, the minibar, slippers, and bathrobes are included in our Junior Suites. However, these amenities can also be requested in our Standard Rooms for an additional charge.
As for the gym, as you were able to see during your stay, it is a very limited space. We are aware that having a weight bench would make the gym more fully equipped, but unfortunately, we currently do not have enough physical space to add one without compromising the comfort and safety of our guests. Nevertheless, we appreciate your suggestion and will keep it in mind when considering any possibilities to improve and make the best use of the space available.

Only if you like black and grey and no toilet privacy
Location of the hotel is good but the atmosphere is depressing. Corridors are all in black, rooms black and grey.
Airco in our room was not working well and when reported the receptionist told us he would be with us in 5 minutes but he never showed.
Bathroom is a corner in the room with only one washbin and a glassdoor for the toilet so no privacy

Great location hotel lacks attention to detail and quality in rooms
Too dark and stuffy rooms . Plenty of space but poorly designed .
Cannot adjust the air con / heat function .
