A warm welcome on a cold evening.
We arrived at El Jaraiz on a freezing cold night. But what a warm welcome from Juan- and what a warm 'cave' house! Cave house does not describe what this place is. Curved, thick and warm walls, immaculately white plastered and painted and pristinely clean, this experience is to be absolutely recommended! All amenities are provided if you wish to cook for yourselves. But why would you when Juan owns "El Perlas", the bar next door! We had an excellent meal,a lovely bottle of wine and a great nights sleep. Thanks Juan. We'll be back!

Could be good, but lacks attention to detail.
4 adults, 2 couples. Location was picturesque and easy to arrive by car. The cave house was one of 3 in a complex. The accommodation bedrooms were spotlessly clean with 3 large bedrooms and storage. You could have slept 8 there comfortably.
However...... for the sake of a small few tweaks, we ended up staying only one night of the two we booked.
First off, the pictures in the adverts did not properly reflect AT ALL the accommodation we ended up with. Of the 3 caves, the pictures were all jumbled up showing pictures of all the houses so we did not get a proper idea of what either our individual sleeping, living, or kitchen facilities would exactly be. The owner should clearly state which cave house and just show pictures relating to the individual cave you will be in so you can decide if it's suitable. Also unlike in the advertising there was no air conditioning, it is a cave house so it wasn't desperately hot but it was very muggy and the fans were old and clunky, just moving the existing warm air around, and so noisy they had to be turned off at night. The advertised pool was covered over, no explanation or notice, it was hot and we all had looked forward to using the pool. The kitchen area was lacking basics like a kettle to make tea, no washing up accoutrements, no sponges, no tea towels, a kitchen roll which was all but finished, and 3, yes just 3 cups, for a 3 bedroom property, one of which was clearly not washed up properly from last visitors. On the dresser, there were a few what I call old fashioned ornamental cups, which would have held about an eye wash, no good for morning tea, I didn't energy want to inspect these. A small, stained pan which we used to boil water. Disordered cutlery drawers which looked like they needed fetching out and washing before use. There was only one bathroom and, of the towels supplied, we had 1 full sized bath sheet, 3 bath towels and 4 hand towels. Hotel standards these days are to provide bath sheets. There were many bath sheets drying outside in the court yard, so we emailed the owner to ask if we could get bigger towels as none of us are sylph like but he refused. A small thing to provide for guests I would have thought. Next, there was just one bathroom for a 3 bed accommodation which could in theory accommodate 8 adults. Admittedly we missed this when we booked as we would have thought with the size of this accommodation there might have been 2 bathrooms. But the site did state just a private bathroom so fair play. However, there was clearly an issue with this toilet as despite following the " no paper in the pan rule" the toilet got blocked. We partially cleared it over the evening, but still, not very pleasant in a mixed group. We didn't bother reporting this due to the owners earlier response on the towels. We'd already decided to come home then anyway.
Other things which we wish we had known before we got there. There is very limited seating space for 4 and insufficient for more, mis matching the bed spaces. There is just a thin net curtain dividing the main double bedroom from the salon area, a total lack of privacy. A thicker heavier curtain is needed as you can see straight through when the light is on.
We didn't even try the restaurant due to disappointment above.
In all, I would not return to this property although the owner, with a little more care and attention to details, could make it so much better.

La cueva de las telarañas y escarabajos
Malas camas, sin limpiar,con telarañas por varios lugares de la cueva? Mal servicio.
Sabiendo el propietario que mi pareja tiene mala movilidad, nos metió en una cueva en la cual para llegar escalones,bu dentro de la cueva más escalones. Después de decirle todo esto, encima de todo prepotente ya que no se dignó a disculparse. En la cocina había tazas en las cuales aún quedaban residuos.
Sabiendo el propietario que mi pareja tiene mala movilidad, nos metió en una cueva en la cual para llegar escalones,bu dentro de la cueva más escalones. Después de decirle todo esto, encima de todo prepotente ya que no se dignó a disculparse. En la cocina había tazas en las cuales aún quedaban residuos.

Curioso, grande y poca ventilación
La habitación/apartamento es bonito y grande además de curioso por el tema de estar bajo terreno. La entrada muy agradable con una terraza y barbacoa incluida. El mobiliario antiguo, aun siendo una cueva puede ser un poco más nuevo sin ser moderno. Lo que no me gustó es al entrar la sensación de poca ventilación de los anteriores inquilinos, que es una cueva si pero sensación a poca ventilación no muy agradable aunque al de un rato de estar te acostumbras

Impresionante
Hemos estado una noche alojados en la cueva b2, una pasada. Tranquilo, no se oía ni un ruido y el lugar es una pasada. Estaba todo impecable y los dueños super amables y atentos, las camas eran cómodas y tenía wifi la cueva. Si volvemos a guadix seguro que repetiremos, es un lugar muy chulo y sobretodo la calidad del sueño inmejorable
