Well Done Hotel Carlos V Malaga

This was our first time staying at the Carlos V Hotel , we had a lovely room on the first floor with air conditioning, television , fridge and a very spacious bathroom. It also had a window overlooking the side of the hotel.
The breakfast was continental and although there was no cooked breakfast , It was perfectly adequate for us . Overall we found the hotel to be very comfortable and situated minutes away from Malaga Cathedral and the historic centre of Malaga.
We got a taxi from the airport directly to the front door and were greeted by an extremely kind and professional gentleman at reception who spoke fluent english, which made check in very quick and easy for us.
We were surrounded by shops , cafes and wonderful restaurants on the doorstep. We will be returning to the Carlos V hotel next time we are in Malaga . Thank you to all the staff for a wonderful stay.

The hotel was very old fashioned. Room was drab and gloomy. Air conditioning was very noisy. The bedside wall light was loose. The tap in the wash hand basin was stiff to move. There was a terrible smell of urine in the bathroom. There was no safety deposit box in the room meaning that we had to put valuables, cash, bank cards, passports etc in a bag and hand over at reception. This was extremely inconvenient as every time we needed money etc we had to go to reception with a form to be signed each time we removed something. On our last day in the hotel when we went to reception to ask for our things, we were told to come back later as the receptionist’s colleague was not there. The reception staff were very pleasant and helpful but we would not return due to all of the above.

Great stay

We loved staying at the Carlos V. The staff is very welcoming and helpful. The location could not be better. Rooms were super clean and comfortable

Costa del Sol in Málaga

This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel. Due to its location, service, price, quality, and the attention from the receptionists, it is highly recommended. Excellent cleanliness, advice, and comfort. A stay to rate ten out of ten. It is right in the center and close to everything, ideal for walking and exploring beautiful Málaga.

Close on a high note!

After a week around Andalusia we book last minute this hotel to spend the last night, without too many needs.


We couldn't make a better choice: we've never stayed in a hotel so central and comfortable in its being central (it's not always a plus, sometimes you're in the city center but you're badly connected with places to see and things to do). Everything but really everything is doable on foot: the visit of the main attractions, the cathedral which is right there, the sea, the clubs, bars etc...

If we then talk about the technical details of the hotel: finally a back-proof mattress and the possibility to choose between different types of pillows.
The bathroom has a nice big shower and has a window. 
The check in and check out times are comfortable and the breakfast in its being simple still has a little of everything. 
Another thing we enjoyed was the peace and silence: despite the central location and the abundant flow of tourists, during the night we had no problems, the room was quiet and no fly flew.

The icing on the cake is the kindness and love for his city that Alvaro gave us, with all the directions on how to move that only locals can really give you. 
We always prefer “old-fashioned” facilities to modern solutions that keep popping up more and more when you book a room, enter a code to open a box containing your key and go home without ever seeing who is behind it. 

I don’t know why the hotel falls into the two star category, very few. 
We leave Malaga and return to Italy with a beautiful memory. Hasta luego!
