PLEASANT RURAL GETAWAY

We've been two nights and it's gotten short. I'm sure we'll be back. We have gone with our dog and settled in the Perpinyana apartment which is a bass with access to a nice and large garden. The saltwater pool is great with beautiful views. We were greeted by Nil, who gave us an explanatory tour and made us feel at home. You breathe quiet.

Highly recommended rural retreat

Loved our week here, using it as a base for cycling with our tandem. Beautiful quiet location overlooking Banyoles a couple of miles away. Hosts Neil and Iris are a lovely and helpful couple and dealt with a problem on our arrival brilliantly. Spacious, comfortable and well equipped apartment with lovely views. Great pool and sitting out areas too. Highly recommended rural retreat.

Excellent stay

This is a conversion of an old farmhouse on a wooded hillside 2 miles or so outside the lakeside town of Banyoles. There are about 8 self catering apartments or studios distributed around this large building and a good size swimming pool. The owner is very friendly (doesn't speak English, but speaks French) and helpful. We stayed in a single room apartment with a small kitchen area and a terrace area. We walked in the vicinity as well as visiting nearby Girona and the Graecoroman remains on the Costa Brava coast at Empuries.
The walking is very good and well signposted. Banyoles is unassuming but very attractive with an old town centre.

A lovely efficiency "apartment"

We had two delightful nights in the Albera room at Mas Rovira and dearly loved our stay there! There was a large bedroom, large living room area with a dining table and kitchenette and an average sized, beautiful, bathroom. The location is wonderful, though Mas Rovira is off-the-beaten-path. I was sorry that we didn't arrive prepared to fix our own meals there! The kitchen cabinets were well stocked with dishes, utensils, glasses, cookware, etc.; and being a Sunday night there were hardly any restaurants open.
I really loved the way the bathroom had been appointed! Beautiful shower (one that I would love to copy for my own home)!
The bedroom had windows on two walls with a view overlooking Banyoles and the countryside. Beautiful sunrises awoke us each morning with a gorgeous fog nestled amongst the distant mountains! The dining table was also set in front of a large window overlooking the same Banyoles/mountain view.
The owner was a very nice man who spoke fluent French with my husband. The only difficulty we experienced with this place was sending a deposit to book our room. We had to do this thru a special bank in the US and have the deposit money transferred to his bank account. Thankfully another Tripadvisor member told me how to handle this situation. Everything worked out beautifully!
I wish that we could have stayed a third night here; however, I wanted to spend a night in Besalu to capture night photography there. I was very happy that we did this because the driving at night in this area is rather difficult, especially for tourists unfamiliar with the roads.

Fantastic rural accommodation

We stayed two nights at Mas Rovira but wish we had stayed longer. We stayed in the Rocacorba apartment which was spacious, well equipped and had a superb private roof-top terrace. The location is excellent. It is close to some great hiking country as well as to some beautiful medieval towns and villages. I would thoroughly recommend both the Mas Rovira and the wider area.
