Good

At the moment of writing this "Trip Advice", the hostel has a mere 3*. Older reviews suggest bad cleaning and the likes, and we want to state that, after staying in Meiga for a few days, the cleaning has improved a lot and that everything is quite extensively cleaned! In addition, the hostel generally has a nice atmosphere. Minus would be availability of kitchen cooking/cleaning utensils and the presence of some dogs (when we were there)

so-so

The hosts are welcoming. Poor soundproofing of windows overlooking a busy street. Hostel outside the historic center I arrived there with another pilgrim. Very very cold atmosphere. No other pilgrim responded to our hellos. We ate standing up, no one made room for us... a little violent after the wonderful conviviality on the way... I paid extra for a dormitory of 4 people instead of 8 then finally we were four adults and a baby.... bad experience. No fuss... The photos are more beautiful than reality. The living room is very cold, not cozy.

Ivan: Perfect Host

Ivan is the life & soul of this place: un cheeky caballero who is as rough'n'ready welcoming as a daft retriever with a waggy tail. Spasibo Amigo.
Close enough to most things & very modestly priced for June/July.
Can be raucous, depending on who's up for it. First night I was; second night with ongoing hangover was hell for rest with wild witch-cackling downstairs. More loos & better Wi-Fi would help too.
But nice common area, with garden & resident house-chicken clucking away in the long garden downstairs. Reasonable facilities for cooking & washing.
Yet Ivan is the lasting impression of the feel-good factor that makes this place tick.

Friendly Albergue

Feels like coming home. Been there a couple of times now. Improved bathrooms. Very friendly hosts!
Close to the bus station and just fifteen minutes walk from the cathedral area. One wants to come back.

Not so good

We were not satisfied by this hostel. It is not cleaned especially the bathrooms. I think this is one of the worst that we have found along the whole Camino de santiago.
On the other side the guy who attended us on the phone and at arrival was very nice,funny and helpful. Also the decoration of the spaces and the rooms would be cool but they really need to improve the general basic cleaning of the entire hostel.
