Oasis retreat with a beautiful pool

This is the perfect place to stay if you'd looking for a tranquil oasis away from the city for a couple of days. Lush cinnamon trees, teak trees and palm trees border the pool and the pool area was the main draw for us to Tekkawatta and it didn't disappoint.
The communications before we arrived were always prompt and very helpful, kindly booking an airport pick up for us (~40 USD and took 45 mins) and the owner was extremely welcoming and helpful. Having studied in the UK, her English was excellent and she told us she is the 5th generation to own the property and we were happy to be staying in a Sri Lanka owned hotel, rather than a big corporate.
Contrary to a previous review we were given plenty of water at all times, at meals and in the rooms and lovely to arrive to a refreshing drink and cold towels. For us the food was served family style, so we chose a dish for the adults and something more plain/bland for the younger kids.
There was unfortunately work going on in the 2 bed apartment we were due to stay in, so we stayed in some alternative rooms, which were fine, but I think the apartment was probably more luxurious. I would love to stay here again and see the apartment next time.
