THE PLACE TO BE
Amazing 7 day stay at Green House.
We slept in the sheds facing the beach freshly renovated, the air conditioning works super well, the decor is successful, super clean and functional.
The location is just perfect.
We took surf lessons all week, the instructors were amazing, yet we left with small levels and 2 children.
The pool is great too, the place is perfectly adapted to children even if the atmosphere is rather young surfers.
Breakfasts are simple but quite hearty and delicious.
Nothing negative everything was perfect!! Thank you!!

Pros:
- Beautiful and clean pool

Cons:
We experienced major issues with payment. We had booked and fully paid in advance via an online booking platform, but the manager refused to accept this payment due to negative experiences in the past. We were asked to pay the full amount again on site and try to get a refund from the booking platform ourselves. To avoid paying twice, we agreed to settle the payment upon departure once the issue was clarified.
Despite this, the manager approached us about the payment almost daily, sometimes several times a day, and on the third day another employee asked us to pay again. This situation was very uncomfortable and stressful. We had to write numerous emails to the booking platform to resolve the issue, although this should have been handled by the hotel manager. He claimed to be in contact with the platform, but apparently did not respond to their emails.
The rooms were okay, but not worth the high price. There was no fridge, no kettle, and no bedside tables. The Wi-Fi was very weak. There were frequent power cuts that only affected this hotel and not the surrounding buildings. The air conditioning was old, very noisy, worked irregularly, and sometimes dripped water at night directly above the head of the bed.
The surroundings are generally a bit noisy at night due to a busy road and nearby train tracks.
The bathroom constantly smelled unpleasant due to the drains.
Room cleaning only takes place every three days, which was acceptable for us, but at this price level daily cleaning would be expected. During our entire stay, we did not receive fresh beach towels.
Breakfast was very disappointing with extremely limited options. If you do not like omelets or fried eggs, you end up eating pancakes every day. There was no flexibility in orders, and even a second coffee had to be paid for. Orders were often forgotten and had to be repeated multiple times (up to four times in one morning). The staff consists mainly of changing young European travelers who appeared unmotivated.
We had five lunches/dinners included. When ordering the fifth meal, we were told that we had already used all included meals and would have to pay extra. After we objected, this was checked again and confirmed to be a mistake. Nevertheless, this meal was still charged on our bill at checkout.
Only on the day of departure were we informed that drinks were not included in the five meals, so we had to pay extra for them.
Despite booking a surf package, boards could not be used for free outside the instructed surf lessons. But sometimes the manager said it's okay if we use the bords a few minutes longer after our surf lesson.
Overall, the atmosphere was not what we expected. There were far too many staff members who did not seem interested in the guests and spent most of the time sitting in groups in guest areas. As a result, hammocks and the yoga area were often occupied, and when asking questions, we felt like we were disturbing them.
Considering the high price, we were very disappointed and cannot understand the many positive reviews. We also met several other guests on site who were similarly dissatisfied.

The perfect hotel & spot
I couldn't have been luckier with this place. Perfect rooms, totally renovated hotel. Very pleasant environment where to surf with TOP monitors for all levels. The best area on the beach. A place with all the comforts. They create community with customers themselves.

A private piece of paradise and a perfect place to unwind
We arrived in Welligama after a couple of days in Mirissa (we loved it there as well), with the sole intention of surfing and unwinding by the beach. It was our second time in Sri Lanka, so we were just planning to have a relaxing stay and so we did! We truly loved the Green Rooms! It’s like a private piece of paradise away from the clamour of the outside world (Welligama is not the nicest town), it’s so peaceful that you just want to hang out in their beautiful front yard and don’t want to leave.
The plot occupied by the Green Rooms has been divided into 2 parts, one with the hotel building and the pool, and the front part with beach access, and the restaurant. The whole area is just spotlessly clean and perfectly maintained, the pool is just gorgeous and beautifully lit in the evenings. The rooms are pretty basic, but really clean, the staff were hanging freshly washed mosquito nets over the bed when we arrived. The view from the rooms is just wow wow wow - Waikiki Beach vibes and the most perfect sunsets. What I really loved was the front part of the yard, lined with coconut palm trees. There are plenty of sun loungers or lovely bean bags, you can just grab a book, a fresh coconut and sit there for hours. There are daily yoga classes on the deck, right under the gorgeous palm trees.
The disadvantages - I could not say one bad word about the place, but the Welligama beach is not the nicest beach in Sri Lanka, if you are looking for a serene palm fringed beach, then you might be disappointed. But as I said, the area of beach belonging to the Green Rooms is enough to feel the tropical vibes, and if you are craving turquoise blue sea just hop on the bus (the bus stop is right outside on the main street) and head north to Midigama or Ahangama for a few hours. The Welligama beach is great for surfing though, my son really enjoyed the waves!

Nice, clean, cozy and absolutely wonderful
I had a great stay at Greenrooms, the atmosphere is absolutely amazing, the waves are right outside your door and you have everything you need there.
Great group working there, all having fun together and helping each other. The surf teachers and instructors are fantastic, making sure you develop and have fun in the water. Yase, my teacher is awesome, special thanks to him. I have developed a lot, every day. Special thanks also to Niran and the chef for wonderful breakfast everyday.
It is clean, nice, cozy and welcoming. A place I warmly recommend to everyone.
