Wonderful stay with caring family

Our stay at Rainforest Nest was one of the highlights of our trip. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with such genuine warmth that we truly felt less like guests and more like part of the family.
The kindness and generosity shown by everyone were extraordinary. When I became unwell during our stay, they helped take us to the pharmacy, made sure I got the medication I needed, and even prepared homemade soup for me. Their care and compassion turned what could have been a difficult experience into one where we felt completely looked after. It is something we will never forget.
A special mention must go to Saman, whose guiding skills are simply outstanding. His ability to spot wildlife in the Sinharaja Rainforest is incredible. We would have walked straight past so many fascinating animals and birds without him. His knowledge of the rainforest, patience, and sharp eye made every walk exciting, and thanks to him we saw an amazing variety of wildlife that we would never have found on our own.
The accommodation itself is peaceful, comfortable, and perfectly located for exploring Sinharaja. Waking up surrounded by nature and enjoying delicious home-cooked meals made the experience even more special.
If you are looking for more than just a place to stay—if you want genuine Sri Lankan hospitality, exceptional guiding, and to feel truly cared for—I cannot recommend Rainforest Nest highly enough. Thank you to the whole family for making us feel so welcome. We hope to return one day.

Unreservedly recommendable

Umesha and Saman, a perfect host couple. Umesha cooked excellently for us and took great care of us in every respect. Saman is the perfect guide through the rainforest; not even the smallest moth on the tree escapes his trained eye... Our cabin was tastefully furnished and decorated with a lot of love. We sat on the terrace and enjoyed the view. We couldn't have done better!....

Five stars for Rainforest Nest and hosts Saman and Umesha.

Saman and Umesha of Rainforest Nest are amazing hosts. The property is gorgeous with lovely views of local rice paddies and the forests beyond. The upstairs room we stayed in was very well equipped with a comfortable king sized bed (with a second queen bed also), hot water shower, air con, kettle, balcony with furniture. Umesha is a great cook, food is delicious and plentiful and she also makes a great coffee, so guests want for nothing in that department. Saman is a knowledgeable and passionate guide who we used multiple times in the local area and for the Sinharaja Forest. We had a list and saw everything we wanted to see. Five stars for Rainforest Nest and hosts Saman and Umesha.

Fantastic rainforest hideaway and tour

This place gets rave reviews on Trip Advisor and Booking.com and I second them. It's tucked away in the hills on the edge of a tropical rainforest looking over a rice paddy. The owner and his wife were lovely and responsive. The dinner was delicious, as was the breakfast, and the owner's brother took me on a four-hour tour of the rainforest that was amazing -- his ability to spot lizards and snakes was uncanny. I wish I could have stayed another night and taken the night tour.

Idyllic stay in beautiful surroundings.

What a welcome!!! The hostess took care of us to perfection...great dinner made by her. Even polished our shoes after hiking in the rainforest. Her husband is a very good guide who even managed to spot very rare animals including white monkeys. Also supportive with expert explanations. Beautiful view from terrace stay. Chalet is more than ok when you look at which location you are sitting.
