Excellent experience at the Gibson Inn

The historic inn is quite charming and beautiful. Our room was very nice with a comfortable bed. We had a very good dinner at The Franklin Cafe in the inn. The front desk folks were friendly. Location is excellent as there are many restaurants and shopping within easy walking distance. Though the rooms are more expensive than chain motels, the value you get by staying at the Gibson Inn is well worth it. Appalachicola is a quaint little town. Lots of good walking and bike riding opportunities.

We chose the Gibson Inn for an important anniversary getaway and called ahead to explain the occasion. A staff member recommended paying extra for an upgraded balcony room and indicated that the hotel might add a small special touch.
Unfortunately, the stay was disappointing from the moment we arrived. Despite mentioning our anniversary again at check-in, no one acknowledged it—not at check-in, during our stay, or at checkout. We were not expecting gifts or complimentary items, but even a simple “Happy Anniversary” would have shown that someone listened and cared.
The upgraded room also felt ordinary, and the balcony overlooked a busy road with persistent traffic noise, especially during the early morning. After paying more based on the hotel’s recommendation, it was unclear what benefit the upgrade actually provided.
Any one issue might have been minor, but together they reflected poor communication and a lack of personal service. Hospitality is often defined by small gestures, and unfortunately, the Gibson Inn missed several easy opportunities to make an important occasion feel welcoming or memorable.
There is has been no response from the Gibson management to date even after several phone calls and one email.

The facility was very nice and well maintained and the staff was helpful. The only problem I had was that they nickel dime you for everything. For example they had a basket of snacks, five dollars for a snickers bar, or a half can of Pringles. Have to pay extra to use the pool.

This is a wonderful place to stay. The entire Inn is very clean with gregarious and professional staff. Loved being able to use the free bicycles and explore town. The Inn is beautiful and very comfortable with good food and will definitely return for another stay.

We had to book a room last minute and the staff was extremely helpful! The room was as advertised and very clean!
