Genuine, Retro and Authentically Austin

This hotel is amazing and authentic and the staff is genuinely awesome. If you lean away from the big brands, even when they try to make their fancy hotels hip, this is the place for you. Yes I heard they were purchased by Hyatt, but Hyatt is hopefully smart enough to leave this one EXACTLY as it is. This is Austin. This one is real.

Austin Motel is bad. Very Bad

Austin motel allowed the APD to brutalize me and the harassed me to return a robe and key that was accidentally packed by my aunt when she rushed to leave our stay to pick me up at the Austin jail where I was brutalized all night on July 5th. I was communicative and kind when explaining my story to the staff and they still thought it was appropriate to charge me 450 dollars for the robe and key. No one from the motel sent me flowers or asked how I was before charging my card nearly 1000 dollars in my time of crisis. This is not a safe place. It’s false advertisement to consider yourself a place of love, and then behave this way. That is deplorable behavior.

Back in Austin as tourists this time!

Our group of 3 couples had a wonderful stay at Austin Motel. One couple in our group needed accessible accommodations, and the hotel had exactly what they needed, which made the trip much less stressful. The staff was friendly, and check-in was smooth from start to finish.
The location on SOCO is hard to beat. We used to live in central Austin years ago, and I never imagined we’d come back and stay here as guests. It was such a pleasant surprise and a fun way to experience one of our old favorite neighborhoods from a different perspective. Everything was within easy walking distance: great restaurants, coffee shops, shopping, and live music.
The rooms were clean, comfortable, and had the retro Austin charm the motel is known for. The common areas were inviting, and it was a great place for our group to relax and spend time together.
My only suggestions would be to add a chest of drawers or dresser for storing clothing. There was a chair in the corner, but with a sofa already in the room, that space could be put to better use with additional storage. The bathroom also felt a bit tight, so a few wall-mounted shelves would make a big difference for toiletries and personal items.
Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would absolutely recommend Austin Motel to anyone looking for a fun, comfortable place in an unbeatable SOCO location. We’d happily stay here again.

Austin Motel … Just as advertised!

Ok .. so the Austin motel is the bomb .. just as advertised! Swam bth days in the ridiculously cool pool with a great bartender and small , cool bar .. Room was clean and so eclectic! Loved the artwork and 50’s feel .. a bit hot to hang in the courtyard, July.. but would have been a great place as well. Helena at the front desk was a Rock Star!

Great vintage hotel

Just stayed last Friday. Love the vintage feel. Yes, it’s an old motel now part of Hyatt. Room was clean and cute. The AC worked great. We are globalists and received a coupon for a free breakfast at Jo’s. We were celebrating birthdays and they left a cute card and some yummy treats. If you can’t do stairs ask for a room on the first level. We had to request a different room and happily they were able to find something. The front desk staff is amazingly nice. Pool looked great but we did have time to use it. The area was great for walking around at night and finding a place for dinner.
