Time Travel To an Earlier Day!

We enjoyed our stay at the Commodore in Bainbridge.
Sherrie wasn’t even fazed by my frantic phone call late one evening when we had trouble gaining access. She kindly and patiently explained the process over the phone and was still cheerful the following morning.
As the other guests left early that morning, we were the only breakfast guests. The breakfast started with fresh fruit and was followed by a wonderful breakfast casserole prepared by Sherrie.
Our room was beautiful and furnished with ornate furniture I would have expected to see two hundred years earlier.
However, my favorite furnishings were the exquisite chandeliers.
I hope we will be staying in Bainbridge longer the next time we visit so we can enjoy another stay at the Commodore!

Amazing stay at the Commodore!

Had an amazing stay at the Commodore! Sherrie was such a gracious host. She made sure everything was perfect for me. I did appreciate the coffee and bottle water in the room. The bed was so comfy and I slept loke a baby. The breakfast in the morning was soooooo good . The house was very clean and nicely appointed with some amazing antiques. I felt like I was transported in time. I look forward to returning & will definitely stay again.

Very nice owner but way overpriced

There was no toilet seat! Now that’s a new low. Owner apologized but no offer was made of a reduction after I spent the first night there without one. $135/night was way too high even with one. Cook said it was her first omelette; you could tell.

One Night stay at the Commodore

This is an old, picturesque, two story home in town with columns on the front page, surrounded by pecan trees, and in a gentle state of decay, e.g., could use an outside paint job. We stayed in the "red" room downstairs with its private bath which cost about $150 a night. This was a large room, with a queen-size bed with high full mattresses, and decorated with safari items. Two small separated closets had been converted into the bathroom: one for the toilet and vanity and one for the shower. The shower was so cramped that we didn't use it and the toilet required 6 flushes to complete the job. There was no thermostat for the room so we had to shut the vents to stay warm. We were not given a room key or front door key. But the breakfast was truly excellent and the lady who both cooked and served, was a character, full of wit and good cheer. And the atmosphere around the large dining table seemed to promote good conversations between guests. This Bed and Breakfast has not been in operation long and it will hopefully improve in the future. In addition Bainbridge was severely damaged in a hurricane last year which probably affected the outside state of the house.

Your Own Special Piece of Heaven

After staying at a very nice major chain hotel in Thomasville, we decided, after reading reviews, to try Commodore. What a beautiful upgrade in lifestyle, comfort, and freedom. We had the run of the grounds, including a deep blue water swimming pool much deeper than an ordinary swimming pool, extensive grounds with huge shade trees and places to either lie on the soft lawns or sit in one of the seating areas to read a book or just close your eyes and enjoy the breezes and garden scents. There's a unique parking area on the lawn, away from the house, under shade trees, so completely the opposite of anything commercial or paved over. As for the hosts, we felt like family and the couple who own the B&B will do just about anything to accommodate you and make you feel at home. The hosts are both "locals" from the area, with parents living nearby and quite involved in community life in Bainbridge and the surrounding area. Catherine is so calm, always smiling, never in crisis mode even when the B&B is busy and humming along, and always has time to attend to your requests. Breakfast is so much fun and Richard, the host, will sit down with the guests and chat about local affairs and because he serves on both the police force and fire dept. he knows what's happening plus he makes you feel safe and protected, not that Bainbridge is anything but a charming, safe hometown America kind of place. The feeling you get at Commodore, whether you're sitting on the front porch in a rocking chair watching the world go by, or roaming around the backyard looking for the best perch to sit and read a novel or just close your eyes, is a sense of being at home, with the freedom you feel in your own home. We plan to return and explore the area some more.
