AMAZING HOTEL

HOTEL EMC IS A SPECTACULAR HOTEL! From service to quality this has been the best hotel I've stayed at in a while! I love the arty and scientific touches all through out !

No Natural Light, Noises All Night

Had a miserable stay here and didn’t get much sleep the entire time. The room faced an abandoned office building and the back alley. The only natural light is whatever is reflected off the office building as we couldn’t see the sun from where we were. The constant noises from the alley kept me and my kids up at night. Trash and glass bottles being dropped in the dumpster, beeping and alarms going off around 3AM mainly from trucks backing up, then garbage trucks would come rumbling through shaking and banging the dumpsters between 530-630AM every morning to wake us up again.
I asked the front desk if there were any other rooms available twice and both times was told no and that they were sold out even though I could book multiple rooms on their website for the same room type for the duration of our stay. They said they would leave a note on my account stating I was requesting another room, but of course I never heard back from them. Even if a room wasn’t immediately available, I would’ve been fine waiting for it to be ready.
It was a shame that this was my kids’ first visit to Chicago and the food and museums were wonderful, but they hated going back to the hotel. The room also had a slight sewage smell from the shower and we saw a few drain flies buzzing around the bathroom. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and regretted not booking the Hyatt Centric next door. I’m just a Gold member, but probably spent too much time and money on Marriott and will be looking to go with Hyatt in the future.

Shamel made our stay 10/10!!

Shamel at the front desk was absolutely wonderful! She made our check-in experience seamless and went above and beyond by keeping an eye out for a room to become available after the hotel was sold out for our second night. She was incredibly personable, attentive, and genuinely helpful throughout our stay. Her exceptional service made such a difference—Shamel truly deserves recognition and a raise!

Cool hotel if slightly overrated

A neat hotel. Does it deserve to be among the top-rated in the city? Debatable. I appreciate the excellent location, futuristic vibe to the rooms, and efficient, polished check-in. The room itself is fairly cramped and has an odd noise for the air conditioning that kept blaring. Also, small details like the cleanliness of the elevators, common areas, and cracked lighting panel in the room do not make an immaculate impression. Internet connection is spotty and the TV has a mediocre picture that periodically freezes. Still, for the right price this hotel is a good option. I notice rates drastically fluctuate throughout the year compared to most Bonvoy properties in the city.

Beautiful rooms and building, decor is unique and the experience was memorable. Excellent location, could not be better if you're wanting to visit the riverwalk, navy pier, and michigan ave. The tvs were slow and only had a few channels and the Netflix was glitchy/unusable.
