Recommended
This was a very clean, comfortable room that was reasonably priced. The bed was particularly comfortable. There is a very nice restaurant across the street and you can walk to the beach. If you’ve been driving a long ways-as we had been-and need a place to lay your head and have a decent meal and not pay a ton of money (as in some of the hotels nearby) I highly recommend Motel 101.

Something from Grandma's Time...
The new owner impressed me as a hard working man with a caring attitude. I arrived approx. 10 minutes before 3PM check ✔ in but he had done maintenance on his motel property. He stopped me before I drove away and asked me to come to the office. Super quick check ✔ in; explained what I need to know, maid service begins 10 AM. He had me ready to see the room; a real man of hospitality, the work alone... had truly impressed me. I will include photos. I smell the towels; sheets, pillow cases... first thought reminded me of something from the 20TH. Century when both grandmas had hand washed clothes; clean water rinse, hung them out on the clothes lines to dry by sun and a breeze. Yes... I think the man is in the process of upgrading his motel since 2011... absolutely no doubt in my mind.

Clean Room, Friendly Owner
We have stayed in Gold Beach about 6 times in the last 10 years, but this was the first time at Motel 101. When we pulled in to check rates, there was a sign on the door with a phone number, but before we could call, the manager pulled in. He was very friendly, showing us the room when we asked,and since the wife likes to support local owners, we took the room. It was very basic, but very clean with what appeared to be a newly remodeled bathroom. Though near the highway, there was little noise after dark. Parking was right in front of the room, the previous night, in another city, it was over 200 steps from car to room. There is a mini mart across the street, and our favorite restaurant in town, The Port Hole Cafe, was just a short drive. We will put Motel 101 in our rotation for places to stay the next time we are in Gold Beach.

Good value, clean room
First I have to givr this owner credit for being hands on and working so hard to try to improve this property. However, there is still a long way to go. This is motel will give you a clean simple room right off the highway. But there is no breakfast and not much in the way of amenities like no hairdryer or iron and limited surfaces to place belongings. Furniture is worn and dated. Some improvements have been made. If you are looking for a clean place to lay your head on a coastal road trip at a bargain price then this is the place. If you are looking for something more, keep driving.

Clean, Affordable, Hospitable, Quiet at night.
Mr. Patel was kind enough to open the "Coffee Room" a few minutes before its normal opening (8:30 a.m.). The room has a Guest Services Directory" filled with helpful information, including a roster of TV stations. The bathroom has a rubber mat to prevent "slips and falls" when showering. I like that feature and am surprised how few places I've stayed in on my recent travels supply mats.
The only "ocean view" is from the parking lot looking through an opening between the buildings on the ocean side of Highway 101. The heater took awhile to bring the temperature up from 50 degrees, but I kept my jacket on, so no problem.
Other than those facets, I found Motel 101 to be excellent for me.
