Substandard hotel

10/27/24 we checked into the Marion, IL Hampton Inn and will not return. With an AARP discount, including tax, two queen beds was $117.80. What we got was one bed the sheets were damp, a lot of mold mixed into the bathtub caulk, no water pressure (just a trickle) when the sink faucet was turned left for hot and even with a trickle of water it never got hot or even warm. It's a shame that this national chain no longer associated with the Hilton is substandard. We mentioned these issues at the front desk, but not even an apology.

Special evening RUINED

Went to my grandsons graduation and living 4 hours away we decided to stay at Hampton Inn. I had stayed there over 50 nights before I retired 10 years ago. I do not believe a single upgrade has been done in the 10 years. Went to room, it would take your breath away from the humidity. Turned air on, left for 2 hours and came back to the same situation. Went to front desk, they told us most of the air conditioners did not work on that floor. They moved us to the third floor, muggy but not nearly as bad as second floor. We tried to turn our keys into the clerk for the room change, he was sitting in breakfast area and we expected him to come take the keys but he did not leave or acknowledge us. Came back after graduation and room still not cooled off. While eating breakfast, we observed an employee come into work and clerk said your friend who I hired did not come in from the second day in a row. I did not need to hear about his employee issues. Checking out asked for a receipt and clerk said do not worry about it.

Not worthy of the Hampton Inn name

This is an older property that has been maintained but is LONG overdue for a total renovation. The decor/colors/carpet/wall paper felt like they were fresh out of 2006. Our tub had discolored caulk and large chips in the finish that exposed the metal underneath. The room was dark due to red paint on one wall and small window. It smelled really stale. I was glad to leave the room early the next morning. I will say that the breakfast was good, very similar to two other Hamptons we stayed in during this trip.

Hampton should not have their name on this hotel

Shower faucet was broken, we had to use a piece of cardboard to keep it from falling so we could turn on the shower. Sink drains super slow, heater super noisy, it sounded like it was going to rattle itself untill it breaks apart. Small TV, black mark on the white bedspread. The fridge made so much noise we unplugged it. I can't believe Hampton puts their name on this hotel. A motel 6 would have been better. We are loyal to Hampton Inn & Suites so we are shocked!

Outdated

I stay here a couple times a year, mainly for points. I’d give it 2.5 if could. It’s really outdated. Still no digital keys, unable to enter south side door for past couple years, pool seems to always be under maintenance, and staff could care less about Hilton diamond status lol. You can stay 25 min down the road in Carbondale at a much nicer Hampton, but this is right off the highway.
