Charming Get-Away
We found Stone Canyon Inn when searching online for lodging near Bryce Canyon. The property was a short drive away but tucked into a quiet rustic setting with beautiful views. We enjoyed seeing rabbits and deer on the property and the night sky was spectacular. We stayed in a one bedroom lodge and found it to be very cozy. The evenings were a bit chilly in April and we took advantage of the gas fireplace. We only stayed 2 nights and hope to go back for a longer stay as there is so much more to see and do in the area.

Not Clean, Not Safe — Not Worth It for Families with Young Children
I want to start with a genuine thank you — when my daughter realized she had left her beloved stuffed bunny behind, the staff helped locate it and were told mailed it back to us…That kindness meant the world to our family, and I don’t want it to go unacknowledged.
That said, I have an obligation to be honest, especially for other parents traveling with very young children.
We booked this property with two kids under 3 years old. Safety isn’t optional at that age — it’s everything. What we found were two issues I cannot stay silent about:
No working smoke detectors.
The smoke detectors throughout the property had no sensor units — just empty mounting brackets on the ceiling. Not malfunctioning. Not beeping. Simply absent. Traveling with toddlers and having zero fire detection in the home is not something I can minimize. I have photos. This is a life-safety issue and likely a code violation.
A deteriorating outdoor deck.
The deck showed significant structural wear — peeling surfaces, weathered and unstable balusters, and exposed nails/slates. With two children under 3 who are at exactly the age of touching, falling, and exploring everything, we did not feel safe letting them near it.
Cleanliness — a pattern, not a one-off.
Other reviewers have flagged this too, and we experienced it firsthand. The oven was dirty on arrival. The BBQ grill was coated in old bacon grease from a previous guest — who had actually left a handwritten note saying “sorry” about the state they left it in. That note tells you everything: even the last guest knew it wasn’t acceptable. We also found dead bugs in the trash. These aren’t dealbreakers on their own, but combined with the safety issues above, it paints a picture of a property that isn’t being properly maintained or turned over between guests.
I raised these issues with management and provided documentation. The response was a $90 credit with no explanation, and a brief reply that the issues were “being addressed.” No acknowledgment of the severity. No real accountability.
If you’re traveling without children, your calculus may be different. But if you’re booking with little ones, please factor this in. We tried to resolve it privately and in good faith — I’m sharing this so you can make an informed decision. Don’t stay here.

We stayed in a treehouse and it was our favorite place we stayed on our whole trip!!!

Don’t do it
This was one for the books!! We arrived to check in and no one was there!!! It is off the beaten path and a distance from Bryce Canyon! I walked to the door of the little office to check in and there was a sign on the door if we needed maintenance to call one of these numbers . Called first number and no one answered so I called the second number and a woman answered . She said she would “come up” but it will be a while. We waited 45 minutes and I was just getting ready to call again when the door opened and some cowboy stood there! I went in.. no hello no sorry, just what’s the name on the reservation? I told her she handed me the key and told us to drive up the dirt road and we would see our cabin! Oh and I won’t be here again until Monday morning after 8 am! So we were the only guests in the middle of nowhere in the dark!! The next day after going to Bryce we returned to see another car in front of another cabin… she told us a similar story about checking in!!! Would
Never go back there or recommend it !! Plenty of other places closer to the park!!! And the two of them were rude unfriendly and not helpful!! I think we bothered them!!

Great place to stay near Bryce
Nicely furnished cabins in a great setting, consistently good food.
