It’s got beautiful mountain views, a comfortable room (#351), a nice sized shower and air conditioning that works great in this heat wave! Breakfast is really good too, but the two things I really liked were the automated check-in (you do it yourself on a tablet and even make your own room keys) and Manuela, the employee I could always find.
She knew so much about where to go and what to do and spoke perfect English on top of it. She even helped us add an extra day stay because we liked Lucerne so much! My husband and I would definitely come back!

We stayed in the top family room during a heat wave. The room was not at all cool enough. Temperature by the ceiling beams was in the high 80s by our thermometer app. They had set up a portable aircon and turned it on before our arrival thank goodness. But it was too big of a room to be sufficiently cooled by one machine. The beams were in the photos, so we knew ahead of time, but it was constant reminders to duck and be careful. In retrospect I wish I had booked two rooms. The second bed is shoved into the wall, so the ceiling is just above you. There is no one working the front desk ever, it is digital check in/out. Which isn't a problem except when you need something. Our soap ran out and we had to ask the person working the restaurant. The shower ran hot/cold- we were taking cool showers because of the heat and it would suddenly turn hot, and freezing. Note that if you book the family room you have to use stairs-quite a few of them!, the elevator does not take you to your room.

The room was also a little confusing to get to with luggage, but understand that is more to do with the limitiations of an older building.

The breakfast hours closed at 10:00, which I already find to be quite early. However, they started closing the breakfast already at 9:45. Even though I was the only one in the dining area, they did not ask me if I wanted anything else before closing. I had to quickly save some food before everything was cleaned out.
