Our whole experience at the Blu was great. To our fave waiter each evening making one of his signature drink we named Swiss Sunset to the staff helping us with our ice fixation and switching out towels. Everyone was so accommodating not to mention it smells amazing when you walk in and not like a musty hotel. It’s so close to tours and the train station and the nice hot shower with lots of water pressure was nice after a long day. The fridge was great for a stash of drinks and chocolates. Would stay there again for sure!

Frightening Entrapment and an Unacceptable Emergency Response

# A Frightening Experience and a Very Disappointing Response
This is the first negative online review I have ever written. After considerable thought, I decided to share my experience because I believe other travelers should know what happened and how it was handled.
On May 24 at approximately 1:00 a.m., after our flight to Switzerland was delayed, we arrived at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Lucerne. Earlier that day, we had called the hotel to let them know we would be arriving very late because of the delay. We were assured that someone would be at the front desk to assist us.
When we arrived, however, no one was there.
As we attempted to enter the hotel, I became trapped inside the revolving entrance door. I suffer from severe claustrophobia, and being unable to get out caused immediate panic.
My husband, who was not trapped, immediately began calling the hotel for help. He made three separate calls requesting immediate assistance while I remained trapped. During those calls, no one ever told him that someone was already on the way. As each minute passed, we had no idea whether anyone had even received the calls or whether help was coming.
As I remained trapped, my panic escalated to the point that I even called 911 seeking help. I was told they could not assist. At that point, we still had no confirmation from the hotel that anyone was coming.
Had someone simply responded to the first phone call by saying, "We're on our way," it would have made an enormous difference. Instead, I remained trapped with no reassurance that help was coming.
When an employee finally arrived, he laughed as he approached. Whether he intended it that way or not, it was deeply upsetting during what had become one of the most frightening moments of our trip.
The following morning, I reported the incident to the front desk. Despite the seriousness of what had occurred, it took three days before anyone from hotel management contacted me.
When management finally responded, they told me they had reviewed the hotel's security video of the incident. They initially offered complimentary breakfast. We explained that we had already purchased breakfast food because we had early morning excursions each day and would not be able to use the breakfast service. They then offered us wine, but we explained that we do not drink alcohol. The hotel ultimately credited us with one night's stay.
I appreciated that they acknowledged the incident, but I did not believe the resolution reflected either the seriousness of what had happened or the way it was handled afterward.
I later contacted Radisson corporate, hoping they would review both the incident and the hotel's response. Unfortunately, they declined to provide any additional resolution.
Accidents can happen at any hotel. What distinguishes an exceptional hotel is how it responds when something goes wrong.
In my experience, the greatest failures were not simply that I became trapped, but that:
* We informed the hotel in advance that we would be arriving after a delayed flight and were assured someone would be at the front desk, but no one was there.
* My husband had to call the hotel three separate times before assistance arrived.
* No one ever told us that help was on the way.
* I became so frightened while trapped that I called 911 seeking assistance but they said they could not help.
* The responding employee laughed when he arrived.
* It took three days for management to contact me after I reported the incident.
* Although management acknowledged reviewing the hotel's security footage and seeing the incident as I described it, I never felt the emotional impact of the incident or the hotel's response was fully recognized.
What should have been the beginning of a wonderful vacation in Switzerland instead became one of the most upsetting hotel experiences I have ever had.
I sincerely hope the Radisson Blu Hotel Lucerne reviews its late-night staffing, emergency response procedures, and guest communication practices so that no future guest experiences what I did.

Excellent location/Impeccable service

Excellent location close to everything especially for us arriving by boat and then travelling by train. Upon check-in, we were greeted by Julien. What a guy!!! If I could give him a 7* for his impeccable service, I would! Our 3 rooms were upgraded. The service he provided throughout our stay was second to none. Always with the biggest smile on his face. Friendly, knowledgeable & very professional

Bad AC, nice location and helpful staff.

Bad air condition and no technical person on site to check the cooling. While the staff helped with a few fans, the AC situation is really not good and ends up ruining a Multi day stay in an otherwise nice hotel.
