Most friendly staff ever!
didn't feel it was a hotel or hostel, or anything of that kind. I felt I was in a family! Everything was new and clean. At breakfast, the owner welcomed me and asked what had brought me there. I told her about the "huan tao", the "bicycle tour of the island" (Taiwan). She marveled. She invited some other travelers to our table and asked for some more tales of my adventures. At the end, she offered me more fruits for the journey (I was on my way to Hualien). I felt great. If you are looking for a place that feels like home away from home, this is it, you have found it!

Comfortable, quiet location in Taitung
One thing to be aware of is that there is very little in the way of food anywhere near the train station, other than some 7-11 stores and a Family Mart.
Your realistic options for getting downtown are buses, taxis and perhaps renting a bike.
The accommodation was excellent, though. Phone the owner and she can come let you in within a few minutes.
