NIGHTMARE EXPERIENCE, TERRIBLE HOST
Not even deserving of 1 star and I am firmly warning you about this place. It’s not a real hotel even though it goes under the category on all travel agency apps. This hotel has about 6 rooms, no reception and is run by a Swedish retiree called Hans, who you can meet in the Living room in one of his houses when you managed to bring your luggage downstairs yourself from the road
On the app of the travel agency the room I booked looked really nice on the images which were attached to that room. It was a light room with big windows. But when I arrived at the place I was given a complete different room from what I was shown in the offer. It was a small, very dark room with a small window, no balcony. I immediately confronted the owner about this mistake and he seemed to be willing to work the problem out. The room which I actually should have gotten was right next to mine and by the time I arrived it was also unoccupied. So I waited and after a couple hours he came upstairs to tell me that the room which I booked is just going to be available after a 3 days [which was a lie at that point because nobody was actually there or moved in the next day]. I agreed on waiting and he confirmed I could move to the other room on March 1th. I left for a couple hours and after I returned he said that I would have pay another 8000baht in order to receive the upgrade. It was a big shock to me, and I told him that it wasn’t my mistake that the wrong room was given to me, he uploaded the wrong images for this room category. So I offered him to cancel the booking which he had to agree to be free of charge at this point of time, which he did agree to but I had to consult the travel agency for them to initiate the cancellation process. It took the travel agency one day in order register my inquiry and ask the owner for confirmation. In the morning I received an email that the cancellation was declined by the owner. I was stunned! The day before he confirmed to cancel my booking since he didn’t want to give me the room I booked. But now on the next day he made me a new offer. He offered me 50% of the remaining 12 days of the booking and I would move out the next day, the booking wouldn’t be canceled through travel agency and he would pay me cash. At this point I was speechless and I decided to at least take this money to at least receive a fraction of my money, because at this point I knew I am not going to stay at this hotel any longer. So I went back to my room and I decided to call the police. I found that there is a tourist police in Phuket who handles almost all issues regarding tourism. they consist of volunteers and I decided to give it a shot.
After documenting my case on the phone in good detail, two officers showed up at the hotel just two hours later, I could hear them at the gate talking to the owner. I walked up to them and explained them the situation in person, showing them the ad together with the room description and photos attached before we went to compare it to my actual room situation. The police man understood the problem quickly and eventually pressured the owner to cancel the booking and asked me to return the cash he gave to me, which I was perfectly willing to do upon cancellation. So finally with the help of the tourist, the owner picked up the phone to cancel the booking himself and got it through very quickly and I gave him back his money and left to another hotel where I can spend the rest of my stay at beautiful Phuket.
