As a solo traveller staying a deluxe villa I was overall happy with my stay at Casa de Mar. The property is in north Chaweng and is quite a distance to the main parts of town, but it's a short taxi ride or a nice walk along the beach, and the resort is much more peaceful than some of the busier party resorts.
My room was spacious and clean, and I was lucky to get a room facing towards the ocean (not exactly an ocean view as it's facing the back of the villa in front, but many of the villas actually face each other, which feels a bit less private). The bed is comfortable and there's some complimentary mini-bar items including crisps and noodles. The large bathroom had a separate bath and shower. The couch out the front is nice to sit outside and relax. There's not really any windows in the room, but lighting is sufficient. There is an outdoor light on the patio and on the first night I could't figure out how to switch it off, and it's quite bright under the curtain (I eventually found that the switch is outside and hidden in a plastic box, but it would be good if the staff mention this when they show you to the room).
The restaurant staff were friendly and the food and drinks were great quality, including the breakfast buffet where you can order eggs cooked the way you like. I did however find it really annoying that other guests would light up a cigarette in the dining area while I was eating (and also on the sun lounges areas).

Great experience, minor inconveniences

Great stay, great staff people always smiling and friendly and willing to help. Everything was amazing, only thing to improve is that we had issues with the water system in the bathroom, but they solved it in the same day by giving us another room. :)

Perfect beach front pool villa.

Service was great, breakfast was a wide spread (be selective for halal food) with breathtaking beach view and soothing music.
Offers excellent privacy especially for the beachfront with pool unit. Perfect for a relaxing getaway. Beach is ideal for a swim at high tide.
Friendly staff. Not only with their smile but show care and concern too. The staff recognised us as it is our 2nd stay.
Highly recommended.

Nice stopover

We stayed here for one night on our way back from Koh Tao to Bangkok.
It has a nice young vibe (we are in our 50s… can’t quite believe how old we are now). Lovely pool overlooking the sea with lovely sun loungers by the pool and on an area over looking the beach/sea depending on the tide.
Excellent service from everyone, especially from Rerng who served us lunch on the day we arrived and breakfast the following day. One point to mention was that this was the best coffee (latte) we had while in Thailand.
The room was clean and the bed was comfortable with little noise.
For how much our room cost, it was excellent value for money. We booked it as it is relatively close to the airport… close enough to be convenient, but far enough away to not be disturbed.
