Horrible, don’t go there , you will be abandoned by hotel and your booking provider company as well
I am sharing our experience because I believe other guests, particularly families and anyone with health concerns, should know what happened during our stay.
During our holiday, the hotel experienced a serious loss of electricity and running water. We were left without normal air conditioning/cooling during extremely hot weather and were unable to sleep properly. Without running water, the toilets could not be properly flushed and the smell became extremely unpleasant and unhygienic.
For our family, this was not simply an inconvenience.
I had recently spent approximately 10 days in hospital following a suspected heart attack and was already struggling with my mental health. My doctor had advised me to take this holiday to help with my recovery and mental wellbeing. Unfortunately, instead of helping me recover, the situation caused significant anxiety, panic, exhaustion and distress.
I also have a medical loop recorder/implant, and the loss of electricity caused me serious concern because of the potential impact on my medical monitoring.
The darkness also created a safety issue and I accidentally hit myself, resulting in significant bruising, which I have photographs of.
My daughter also has asthma, so being in extreme heat without proper cooling was particularly worrying for me.
We had paid for tours and activities expecting to enjoy our family holiday, but after being unable to sleep and dealing with these conditions, we were so exhausted that we could not properly enjoy everything we had planned.
What has been particularly disappointing is what happened when I complained to Loveholidays.
I requested a refund and compensation because of the serious circumstances we experienced. However, Loveholidays has denied the refund because they have chosen to rely on the hotel’s version of events, including the hotel’s claim that emergency lighting and backup electricity were available and that the problem was resolved within approximately an hour.
That is not how we experienced the situation, and I have photographs and videos documenting what we actually experienced.
I have asked Loveholidays to reconsider their decision and to properly review the evidence I have provided. I am also considering escalating the matter through the appropriate complaint and dispute-resolution channels.
I am not writing this review to exaggerate anything. I am sharing what happened to our family and the way our complaint was handled afterwards.
This was supposed to be a holiday to help me recover after a very difficult period and spend quality time with my children. Instead, we experienced extreme stress, lack of sleep, health concerns, an injury and a significant loss of our holiday enjoyment — followed by a refund being refused because the hotel’s account was accepted over ours.
Please consider this experience carefully before booking, particularly if travelling with children or anyone with health concerns.

During your stay, did the water or electricity interruptions you mentioned occur again on any other day
At approximately 02:00 last night, our transformer was also affected by these incidents and sustained damage. As the transformer itself was faulty, we were unfortunately unable to operate the generator. Nevertheless, the electricity issue was resolved very quickly during the day.
Regarding the incident in which you stated that you “fell and hit your back”, our CCTV footage shows that you fell while attempting to run away from arround the pool after getting out of the pool while still wet. The relevant footage and information have been provided to your travel agent for their assessment.
Furthermore, during the power outage at the hotel, there were no areas inside the building left without lighting. All corridors and staircases are equipped with emergency lighting, which is specifically designed to operate in the event of a power failure.
Your travel agent reviewed the claim together with the evidence and documentation we provided. Following their assessment, the claim was rejected. We also submitted the relevant CCTV footage and supporting evidence concerning the incidents described in your claim, allowing the circumstances to be evaluated objectively.
The damage to the transformer also triggered the hotel's fire detection system. As a precautionary measure and in accordance with our safety procedures, all guests were temporarily evacuated from their rooms for approximately ten minutes. You have already shared a photograph of this evacuation. We appreciate you providing this photograph, as it demonstrates that the hotel's safety procedures were implemented appropriately.
Guest safety is always our highest priority. We take all guest concerns seriously and are committed to providing a safe and comfortable environment for everyone staying at our hotel.

Avoid, avoid, avoid!
Avoid, avoid, avoid!
We arrived at Sunshine Holiday Resort at around 4:30am on Saturday 22nd August, having booked two rooms for five people from 21st–28th August.
Unfortunately, from the moment we arrived, the experience was disappointing.
️ Room allocation and air conditioning
We were given two rooms on completely different floors, meaning our children were placed two floors away from us.
This was particularly frustrating because we had emailed the hotel three weeks before our arrival specifically requesting adjoining rooms, and the Front Office Manager had replied:
“Good Evening,
Thank you for your e mail.
We will organise next to each other for your booking.”
Naturally, we expected this request to have been honoured.
We challenged the room allocation and were told the hotel was full and that people would be checking out the following day, at which point we could potentially change rooms.
When we finally got into our room, the night porter couldn’t get the air conditioning working. We were told it was broken and that he would return in five minutes to fix it. After waiting around 15 minutes, we went back to reception and found him standing there, clearly not fixing the air conditioning.
We were eventually given a filthy fan to get us through the night.
Cleanliness and condition of the rooms
Unfortunately, the rooms were far from what we would expect from a 4-star hotel.
There were dirty areas, broken tiles and exposed wires around the bathroom telephones.
The shower tray in the boys’ room was so marked and stained that the boys didn’t want to stand in it barefoot.
The following morning, we went back to reception to ask about moving rooms so we could at least be closer to our children. We were initially told they were full.
We explained that this wasn’t acceptable given the email confirmation we had received three weeks earlier.
Thankfully, Omer, the On The Beach representative, was incredibly helpful. He asked to see the email confirmation and spoke with the manager on our behalf. He managed to get us moved to a room much closer to the boys.
It wasn’t adjoining or directly next door as promised, but it was at least only a few doors away.
A serious security concern
When moving our luggage from the old room to the new one, we accidentally tried to open room 4301 instead of 4305.
The worrying part?
Our key actually worked in the lock.
We were completely shocked. When we entered, we realised the room was being refurbished, checked our key number and realised we had simply made a mistake with the room number.
However, the fact that our key gave us access to another room was extremely concerning.
After that, we made sure our own doors were always locked with the key left in the lock.
Good job we did, because one evening someone actually tried to enter our room. They were extremely drunk and we had to tell them they had the wrong room.
General cleanliness
Outside our room, every day there was a pile of beds, towels, water bottles and rubbish.
It appeared to be a station for the cleaners, but it looked untidy and dirty and was left there throughout our stay.
The reception area wasn’t particularly clean either. Cleaning seemed to take place when guests started waking up, around 8–10am, and furniture wasn’t moved — cleaners simply worked around it.
There were also dead flies that appeared to remain there for the entire duration of our holiday.
On day four, we finally asked for our rooms to be cleaned because neither room had been touched since we arrived. We needed fresh towels and toilet roll.
The reception lady who dealt with us was lovely and seemed genuinely shocked that our rooms hadn’t been cleaned. She arranged for this to be done immediately. Unfortunately, I can’t remember her name, but she was one of the better members of staff we encountered.
Pools and facilities
We asked about the gym and were simply told:
“It’s closed.”
We asked when it would reopen and were told:
“Closed for now.”
When we pushed for an answer, we were told it wouldn’t be open during our holiday.
Very disappointing.
We also asked about the pool shown in the photographs with the tree. We were told that the tree had gone and it was now the slide pool, meaning it wasn’t an additional pool as the photographs seemed to suggest.
When we asked about the other two pools, we were told that one was only for guests staying in the pool rooms.
This effectively left us with a choice of the children’s pool with a slide or a much smaller adult pool.
Our children are older, so they weren’t interested in a little children’s slide, and the adult pool had only around 14 sun loungers for a hotel of approximately 204 rooms.
️ Food and drinks
We were All Inclusive.
The food was okay — not spectacular, but not terrible either. It was quite repetitive, and unfortunately all five of us experienced upset stomachs during the holiday.
The outdoor grill at dinner was definitely the highlight.
The drinks selection was limited, although the bar staff themselves were lovely and very accommodating.
Noise
The noise around the bar area was another major issue.
Every night, the children started screaming — and I genuinely mean screaming — and there was no alternative area where adults or older children could go to relax away from the noise.
The staff didn’t appear to monitor the noise levels after hours either.
There were often people shouting, singing and playing loud music late into the evening, which made it very difficult to relax.
Excursions – our saving grace
By this point, we really didn’t want to spend any more time at the hotel, so we ended up booking an excursion every single day just to get out.
One positive experience was Omer, the On The Beach representative. He was genuinely helpful and went out of his way to assist us.
A personal recommendation: if you’re staying here and want to book excursions, speak to Omer on site before booking through On The Beach in advance.
We found the excursions offered on site to be the same experiences but cheaper. On one occasion, one of our pre-booked excursions didn’t turn up, and Omer helped us sort it out — although, to be honest, he shouldn’t have had to.
A general travel tip for larger families
If you’re travelling as a larger family, be aware that getting a taxi can be difficult.
The yellow taxis we encountered generally accommodated four passengers.
On one occasion, we ended up with one of our children travelling in the boot, and on another occasion four people were crammed onto a bench seat designed for only three.
This is something larger families should definitely consider when planning transport.
⭐ Overall verdict
We genuinely would not recommend this hotel.
It’s advertised as a 4-star hotel, with a review score of around 4.1/5, but based on our experience, we would rate it no more than 2 stars — and around 1.3/5 overall.
There were far too many issues: the room allocation despite written confirmation, cleanliness, broken and poorly maintained facilities, the air conditioning, lack of room cleaning, limited pool access, closed gym, noise, and — most concerningly — being able to unlock another guest room with our room key.
The positive points were a handful of lovely staff, particularly Omer, and the outdoor dinner grill.
But unfortunately, those positives weren’t enough to compensate for the overall experience.
Avoid, avoid, avoid!
