Sandor was a great host, the photos and pictures he provided for check in were very helpful. The apartment was a great size, perfect for exploring Budapest.

Burglars in appartment stealing our stuff, the host does not care

Burglars came into the appartment and stole our stuff. Door was locked and we were away for just 30-45 minutes.
The host was rude and unhelpful, acting nonchalant and almost a bit suspicious.
We locked the door, but someone came in without breaking anything. First the host tells us we must have not locked the door, then he offers to change the lock? He changes his story and has a lot of excuses. The police told us most likely the burglars had a key.
We just wanted to end our stay and find another place to stay, because of course it did not feel safe to sleep there. But the host did not accept our cancelation and did not want to refund anything. Not even a small part.
I still have so many questions, how did someone know we were gone for just 30-45 minutes. Feels like we have been watched and the host knows more than he says. He acts like this is very normal.
Find another appartment if you do not want to lose your luggage and money.

Fantastic apartment! It's located right in the middle of culture, dining, lots of activities, but because it's in the back, it was peaceful and quiet. Our host, Sandor was incredibly helpful and responsive, so we had all the information we needed. Public transportation is excellent, but we enjoyed walking most places. We loved Budapest and felt like our stay was way too brief. We'll be back for sure and will gladly book here again. - M&T, Bisbee, Arizona

Sandor is such a great and helpful host! The check-in process might be a little confusing for first-time travellers in Budapest—especially if you arrive after dark—so I highly recommend checking in during daylight hours. That said, Sandor is very responsive and available online to guide you if needed.
The apartment itself has everything you need for a comfortable stay. As a Muslim traveller, it was such a gem to find a halal Turkish eatery nearby—huge bonus!
The location is also fantastic—just a short walk from Astoria M station. It felt safe, even at 3:00am when I was out waiting for the 100E airport bus. Lots of people around, and the area is lively but not overwhelming.
