Lying and bad information or misinformation
Housekeeping had been in our room and moved our belongings, resulting in a souvenir from Kazakhstan, which cost $20, being broken. Housekeeping did not inform management about the incident, and when we confronted them, they initially denied any involvement. After several attempts, we managed to get the $20 reimbursed.
We also booked a car through the hotel for a trip to Khiva. We were given two options: simple transportation or a sightseeing tour, which cost $20 more. We chose the sightseeing tour but were not informed that there were entrance fees at the places we were to visit. We decided to skip the sightseeing and drive directly to the hotel, meaning we had overpaid by $20.
The driver drove very irresponsibly, with speeds between 95 and 105 km/h on bumpy roads. We had to ask him several times to slow down. He also had a device in the car that warned of police checks, which beeped constantly. I pointed out that if he followed the rules, he wouldn’t need the device. It was very disappointing that the hotel used a driver who did not care about our safety.
