Beautiful and well-kept

Perfect hotel. Great Welcoming beautiful entrance hall. Very large room, very comfortable beds equipped with all amenities. International breakfast with a wide range of sweet and savoury all of excellent quality. On the roof of the hotel there is also a small swimming pool while there is the possibility of using a small hammam in the basement. The only flaw of the hotel is that it is located just outside the historic center, but with the cost of taxis so low it can be a not so important problem.

Nice hotel

We visited as part of a tour group and stayed 2 nights.
It looks a little “ olde world “ with quite dark wood .
The rooms were fine , bed was comfortable, pillows ok . Shower worked ok but the hose was very stiff & the floor got flooded 1st use .
Our room overlooked an inner courtyard, which doubles up as a bar area . It looks as if it’s outside but it’s not .
We had to keep curtains closed as you had bedrooms opposite though.
Breakfast was really nice , fruits were great . A good choice of savoury items . I did try a beef & mushroom stew , which would be an odd thing to serve in UK for breakfast !!! It was delicious.
We are one dinner as a group . This was fabulous, the dishes had an Asian / Thai flavour.
They tray of little puddings was lovely to
share .
We used the bar area both evenings as we found the location too out of way to walk to see anything.
The staff were nice , polite, friendly & professional.
One gentleman stood out , he was probably in charge of the restaurant & bar , possibly the whole hotel .
A very efficient gentleman & nothing was too much trouble.
We failed to find the swimming pool but went in the evening so it was probably closed off .
A good stay, recommend for sure .

Thin walls between rooms

I stayed here with my tour group. Comfortable room opening onto a huge courtyard. The walls between rooms were very thin so I could hear my neighbours coughing all night. Excellent shower. Nice buffet breakfast.

Hotel Grand Samarkand Superior - A review

I had a very good stay at this hotel. Initially, there was an issue at check in where I was given the incorrect room, but it was resolved, and overall the room was comfortable with basic amenities. My hotel transfer was prompt and the journey to and from the airport was very smooth. Davron in reception was very helpful as were other staff, including the on duty manager. I was offered a minor form of compensation for the check-in issue which I accepted. Breakfast options at the hotel could be improved as the selection was often repetitive. The hotel is situated a convenient location close to shops and some restaurants, however the main attractions of the city are quite a walk away. I would stay there again as the staff were really kind and welcoming.

Discreet

Good location, about 20 minutes walk from the center.
The hotel consists of two structures (perhaps two early 900 villas on opposite sides of the street), is a little dated and would require a makeover.
The rooms are still comfortable (ours had a spacious two-room apartment) and clean.
Breakfast in the norm; nothing much, but not even by negative vote.
Beautiful and well stocked small gym.
Staff courteous and helpful.
Recommended.
