Phong Nha - Our favourite place in Vietnam

We loved it here. Yen was very knowledgeable and accommodating. We hired a motorbike, we organised a fantastic adventure tour, we did our laundry and Yen sorted it all out for us. She also fed us and provided us with beer! She made our stay here seamless.

You will be awake at 5AM, bring ear plugs

The good, nice pods set on a lovely river bank, staff are friendly. Site is a bit out of town so ideally you need a scooter
Issues I had:, WIFI was sketchy but owner made an effort to resolve (wifi is fine depending on your pod location)
Shower mount was broken so had to hold shower head while showering, shower is tired with towel holder hanging off the wall.
Free breakfast was extremely basic with little to no options for non meat eaters
No bedside light so you either have full on light or darkness (no in between)
The biggest issue by far was the road noise, pods are on ground level and sit on the main road, traffic runs late and starts early and vehicle noise and horns will have you awake by 5 am unless you are in a coma, then at 6 if you have managed to keep your eyes shut ,the public loud speakers announcement kicks off which lasts an hour will have you on your toes.
As with all the accommodation tried in this town, it is all tired and in need of upgrading and a good renovation, it is a very damp area and mould on walls is common (not at this accommodation fortunately)

Loved the little bungalow, super clean (no bugs) which is lovely. The family who own it super welcoming and friendly. Who doesn’t love a comfortable bed and great Ac. All you need when travelling.
Even arranged for us to get a scooter for the days we was there.
If we are ever back we will defo be returning to the bungalows.

Family time in Phong Nha

We stayed 3 nights at Areca bungalow and very much enjoyed our stay. The views were amazing, as were our hosts, who were extremely helpful and accomodating (nothing was too much trouble). The property was a little out of town, but within walking distance, and right on the river. We were made to feel like part of the family, which was so special! Lovely, lovely people. Go see for yourself!

Beautiful bungalow with great view

During our stay in phong nha ke bang, we stayed at the areca bungalow for 3 days. We were very well received by Yen, who speaks english very well. She arranged our taxi from the airport to the bungalow.The bungalowpark is run by her family, and though the rest could barely speak english, they were very nice and helpful. The 2nd day we went on a trip to the ruc mon cave which she arranged for us (recommend the trip).And when we left she arranged the taxi to hoi an, our next destination. When we had trouble finding some places in town she even helped us by playing our privateguide. I highly recommend this bungalowpark.
