Decent, Comfortable Motel
We arrived a bit early as I thought check-in was @ 12:30pm, but it was actually @2:00pm, so we called the number we had as there was no one at the office & we were told that the cleaning lady was the only one here, but she would give us the keys to our room as it was already cleaned.
Our room had a double bed plus a single bed along with a fridge, toaster, teapot, dishes & silverware, along with many other utensils which was great! There was a patio out back w/old table & 2 chairs. The carport is directly in front of your door which is convenient.
One thing to note is that this is a "dog friendly" motel, but we only heard our furry neighbors when we were outside. We only spent one night here, so it was good for us.

Disappointing
Human body hair throughout the sheets, animal hair on blankets and stale unpleasant smell in room. Not worth the money spent, will not be returning and would not recommend.

Pet friendly
A real little gem, walking distance to Emu Park shops, beach, and attractions.
We had room #7 for a total of 5 nights, our room was very clean with tea & coffee making facilities, reverse cycle air-conditioning, microwave, kitchen sink, full size shower, & comfy bed. Each room has access to a little private grassed area with an outdoor setting. Our room had a fully fenced courtyard, which our dog really enjoyed. Craig the owner and the cleaner, are very friendly.

Motel needs refurbishing
Motel was clean, however tired and dated looking. No pool no internet. Overpriced for what it was compared to other motels we have stayed in.

Unfortunately, our experience at this property was extremely disappointing. My husband and I booked a room for the weekend, and while the facilities were adequate, the treatment we received from the owner/manager, Craig, was far from friendly or professional.
When we arrived, I realised I had forgotten to mention that my husband would be travelling with his accredited assistance dog. Despite showing Craig her identification card and vest, he repeatedly referred to her as a pet and told us there were no “pet-friendly” rooms available. After some discussion, he reluctantly allowed us to stay in our booked room but imposed unnecessary and discriminatory conditions regarding the assistance dog’s presence. He also instructed us to leave a $20 “cleaning fee” specifically for the dog something that should never apply to an accredited assistance animal. my husbands assistance dog was also restricted to not accessing the court yard that was at the back of our unit with a door from our unit leading to that area, no exceptions allowed.
On the Sunday morning, two small unrestrained dogs from another guest entered our room uninvited, which put my husband’s assistance dog in a very uncomfortable and unsafe position. Thankfully, she was on her lead and wearing her vest at the time, and I managed to remove the other dogs immediately. The owner of those dogs became quite confrontational when I reminded him that all dogs were meant to be on a lead within the property no exceptions as per the management rules.
I reported this incident to Craig, but his response was dismissive and offered no concern or accountability. What’s worse, when we later lodged a formal complaint through Guide, Hearing and Assistance Dogs Australia, Craig provided false and misleading information — claiming that we hadn’t been charged a fee for the dog and misrepresenting the facts of our stay.
I have text messages from Craig relating to this situation and images as well. The property also has cameras installed so all of this should of been recorded at the time.
This entire experience left us feeling discriminated against, disrespected, and unsafe. Assistance dogs are not pets they are essential supports for people with disabilities, and they are protected under law. I sincerely hope the management receives proper education and training on how to treat guests with disabilities and accredited assistance animals in the future.
We have but in formal complaints with Guild and hearing dogs Australia and the Qld human rights commission.
