Drop in for dinner

Had a long day exploring the Yorke Peninsula. Decided to grab a meal at the Hotel rather than cook.
Really busy evening due to a public holiday and a local playing music. Ladies were run off their feet but kept their sense of humour as served up a great meal. Wife had the Chicken Parma with chips and salad and I had the Porterhouse Steak with pepper sauce and chips and salad. Both meals were excellent.
All staff were pleasant both in the kitchen and at the bar.

Dissapointing

Travelled through the beautiful town of Minlaton and decided to stop for lunch. It was a shame to be greeted so poorly by the restaurant staff. It was as if they did not want us there. I really do enjoy the character of the old country pubs but feel the restaurant facilities need to be somewhat exceptable to be called as such. The walls looked as if they haven't been cleaned in a very long time, along with the dated rocky tables and chairs. The male bathroom was also dirty with no effort to clean the wall tiles or windows. In this day and age hygine is of the utmost importance and is certainly lacking in this establishment. Our food was also below average with hair in one of the meals. A skilled chef would go along way. I do not like writting such a review but hope the owners read this and take this on board. It would be great to visit again in the near future and see some positive changes. Customer service is what keeps people coming back!!! Relationships built this way will almost excuse a poor food experience.

A real Australian treasure!

This is an amazing pub. It has BOTH types of wine - red AND white! And when it comes to red it has the best one ever - it's Yellowtail! Yes, really... There is also a lovely and overpowering fragrance of urine permeating throughout the establishment. If you want this really unique Australian pub experience this place is pretty much impossible to beat.
Its restaurant - Sammies is also hard to beat! This restaurant should be immediately put on the heritage list. With the possible exception of its lovely red feature wall the whole place is has been time locked in the late 70s or early 80s and it's likely to remain so. Talking about the 80s - I'm pretty sure that it was the expiration date on the mushroom sauce which accompanied one of the dishes jokingly called a schnitzel. There was also a burger which I'm pretty sure remained unchanged since the cook learnt how to prepare it. Delicious. This a place which the Kerrigans would love - it's so amazing. If it's the only open establishment in 100 km radius and you are hungry I would recommend extending your search area to 150 km. It was singularly and truly the worst Australian food experience I ever had.

Room with no view

We stayed in room one for an overnight stop. It looked a bit grim but was clean and the bed comfortable. The shower was great with good pressure and plenty of hot water. We had an evening meal in the on site restuarant. My partner had Garlic prawns and I had chicken strips with satay sauce. Both meals were perfect. We would stay here again if in the area.
